I am currentlly with Sprint and hate them! I am concidering moving to Cingular. Now I will need a phone. I currently have the Palm treo 600.
Not bad. I would concider the Treo 650?? Where should I buy my phone.
I realy do not want a 2 year contract. I can do prepaid with cingular?? MIGHT? I could buy a phone from Ebay and activate it and sign a 1 year contract?? Not bad. I would do a 1 year? Whats the best deal. Wish I could have a unlocked phone but way out of my price range! i was think maybe the black razor or another Treo or what. I can sell my old Treo for a little. I don't want to spend a ton of $$.

Any ideas, suggestions?? Please help!

try T Mobile - a1wireless.com

I also suggest T-Mobile...been with them over 2 yrs now and no complaints.
Calling plans are reasonably priced...wide selection of phones to choose from.

the Go phone pick your own plan no contract with cingular is the best way to go

could also read up on unlocking your phone... i unlocked my old tmobile phone to use with cingular so i don't have to sign a new contract- just researched it on the net, and did it myself

fyi a friend of mine has a treo 650 and loves it.

I am with Cingular and have been generally happy, but lately the service has not been great in my 1 mile square radius and I am working it out with them. However, I don't think they're what they used to be. I really had the most luck with AT&T Wireless before the merger went through. Have not been happy since Cingular took them over.

That being said, I don't think Cingular is worth the extra money over T-Mobile and you may want to check out T-Mobile, especially if you want a 1 year contract.

i agree with erik. i have both cingular and t-mobile. long story short, i switched to cingular, but after a month decided not to give up my tmobile account. their reception is very similar, tmobile's customer service is great, and i love my sidekick 2 (which is what it really boils down to). depending on what you use your treo for now, the sk2 might be a great option. for an extra $20/month, i have unlimited text messaging as well as web browsing.

How come verizon isn't being mentioned.. are they that evil...?

Anyways.. check this deal out from buy.com!!

"The Palm Treo 700w is perhaps the best all around smartphone weve ever seen. The first Treo with Microsoft Windows Mobile, the Treo 700w is a breed apart. With the amazing Today screen that delivers current information and one click access to key Treo features, ability to synch your email and calendar over the air, Word, Excel and PowerPoint document editing, a 1.3 Megapixel camera, broadband download speeds and Bluetooth, the Treo 700w raises the bar for all other smart phones."

its $99.99 after rebate and activation

PalmOne Treo 700w

So confusing??

I live in Texas and people have said some?? T-mobile Drop calls??
but I have heard good things about both T-mobile and Cigular.

Verizion?? Not sure are their phones able to be unlocked like the cingular and T-mobile?? If so this might be good?? Sprint is not able to be unlocked. I think it is because they are not GSM.

The verizion deal looks good. I would have to stay active with them for 6 months and then if I hated them I could terminate which would be a extra $175.00 for breaking a 2 year contract. Still not bad if you add in $99.00 price of phone. $275.00 same price they are selling Treo 650 on Ebay for. So now I need to know? Do I like their plans?? Hmmm I will decide this weekend.
Still looking!

Treo 700w - CDMA 800, 1900

I am with Cingular and have been for 10 years. I am very pleased with their service, coverage and price. I am a fairly heavy user, using 6,000-8,000 minutes per month. I also have a Verizon phone furnished by my employer. While the coverage is very similar, both are good but of course have some holes. I feel from an economic standpoint Cingular is much better. With the free night and weekends, free calls to ALL other Cingular phones, rollover of anytime minutes, no roaming charges etc, no other company even comes close. I would however check the coverage map for your state since some states have poor coverage. A large part of WV has no coverage due to mountains, the upper penninsula of MI has some large holes.

WHY?? CDMA 800, 1900. It's not a Smart phone?
It could be a smartphone, but not a world phone [AFIK]. So your chance of auctioning it out in eBay is less.

it depends how your area and market is. just moved from attws to tmobile, work phone is nextel. in houston tmobile has the same coverage as cingular and is better then nextel. many dropped calls and blank direct connect areas.

6-8k minutes per month? dang! that's over 3 full hours a day on the phone!!! i'd say you're more than a "fairly" heavy user ;)

Anyone need a CHEAP pre-paid cell phone?? ON SALE AT AMAZON.COM!!!
Not sure if anyone is interested in getting a cheap pre-paid Cell Phone but I found this deal at Amazon. It's a Nokia 6010 and it retails for $100 but Amazon has it at 30% off AND there's a mail-in REBATE for an additional $30 off which means your final price is only $39.99 and with T-mobile pre-paid you don't have to sign a contract and you get a free 60 minute phone card included. Other benefits are Nationwide long distance, VoiceMail, Caller ID, Call Waiting, 3-Way Calling, Free e-mail address ([email protected]), Text messaging ($0.10 per message sent / FREE to receive), and Picture messaging ($0.25 per message sent / FREE to receive)! Anyways below is a direct link to the Amazon items and if you want to pre-pay for a full year then pick the $100 card that comes with a 1000 minutes but for other info goto t-mobile.com.

HMMMMM? I LIKE THIS IDEA BECAUSE I'M STILL DECIDING. I COULD GET THIS AND THEN DECIDE ON A LONGER PLAN LATER IF I WANTED THAT. THIS WAY I COULD GET A CHEAPER PLAN IF I WANTED B/C I WOULD HAVE 2 PHONES. THIS WOULD ALSO MAKE A GREAT HOME PHONE. IT WOULD BE NICE TO JUST HAVE ONE TO KEEP AROUND THE HOUSE. I DON'T USE LAND LINES. HATE THEM; BUT YES A GREAT BACK UP PHONE!
