1. Go to Staples or search on staples.com for 554889 ($129.94).
2a. In store - Instant rebate -$50.00 ($79.94).
2b. Online - Use coupon code 55412 -$50.00 ($79.94).
3. Rebate -$30.00 ($49.94).

Guess Staples wants to get rid of em, saw this last week too.

Not to crap on your thread, but I've heard bad things about this drive. Just a word of warning, do some research before you buy this.

I see officemax has the Mad Dog 8x dual format for $50 AR this week which might be a better drive. Supposedly it's a NEC ND-2500. I have a NEC ND-1100 and love it. Not one bad burn in over 200.

My cousin has had 2 of these drives die in a 3 month period. They are junk.

Yep, and throw on a $25 off $100 coupon I had from the back of their recent catalog, and I snagged it for $25 AR :)

Cpaladin, did your order go through? I tried the same thing and they cancelled my order saying that you can't combine coupons with any other offer!!

Mine isn't cancelled yet, says it's scheduled for delivery on tuesday. I dunno, mine was a unique, one of a kind number so perhaps that's why they are allowing it? Did you actually have a catalog or did you have a more "generic" coupon or code from a website?

Just trying to figure out why they would cancel yours?

I needed some darn bubblewrap and this should make a funky gift for my sister's pc for xmas. It also gives me a chance to say hello with my OM driver :)

I am wondering though what's going to happen with the rebate, since they are saying it's $40 but online it's showing as only $30. No matter, I'll get my $40 one way or another :hmm:

Yeah, mine was unique from the catalog. The order just disappeared from my account on their website. So I called to place the order again, got all the way through the order to where the girl was asking for my credit card number. I told her I had a coupon to add and she said I couldn't use a coupon with the order. So I told her forget it. I figure I'll wait. I hope by Christmas time newegg will have it for $39 or so. I hope.
But man, $25 would have been sweet.

As an update:

It was delivered yesterday, and the coupon was still on the packing slip and I checked my ccard and the amount charged was the same. Ie with coupon. So I got it for $65 + tax with a $40 rebate :)

bastard...heh.

Do you have the firmware to enable Dual Layer burning yet? It also removes rip lock and region lock too. Email me if you need it.

I've got my liteon dvd player for the region free stuff already.

Anyway, I hate flashing firmwares unless I really need to, cause it'll be my luck that the system freezes then. I know of what you speak but I'm the kinda guy that only flashes firmware if it addresses a specific problem and/or in the case of liteon cd burners, allows me to "backup" more discs.

I'm only going to have this for a few months, eventually I'll buy a 12x sony dual layer and sell this one on the side. At $25 it's kinda hard for me to lose money on the investment. I know the dual layer thing is cool but I'm still plonking along on 4x dvd discs, I don't wanna know what dual layer discs cost, so I guess that makes me a cheap bastard :D

....oh yeah...and I just got a $10 off $50 and a $25 off $100 coupon from officemax yesterday.
