Fry's Outpost $199.00

Here is what you get in this package

Item 3938338 - Intel Pentium 4 3.0GHz E , 1MB 800 FSB Socket 478 Prescott Hyper Threading Boxed Processor

Item 3982208 - ECS 848P-A Intel 848P Socket 478 Mainboard

From what I have read elsewhere the motherboard is not very good. Also looks like the 848p processor chipset is listed as a "value chipset" on the Intel website.

The board is crap, it uses an old chipset. Its worth it just for the processor. Upgrade yours and throw your old in that ecs board and sell it off to someone else.

yea, the processor is definitely the saving grace in this package. the mobo leaves a lot to be desired though.

Way to go CozKramer ... Im glad someone had the cajones to say it ... Im sure im opening the flood gates here, but Id take an AMD over an Intel any day.

I've been a proud AMD guy since the first K6 rolled down the line... I also had the rarer 386sx 40Mhz that I believe AMD or Cyrix made and was quite happy with it back then.. Intel is just another greedy company with name recognition just like Microsoft is. The only reason their the top seller is because that's who pc makers shove in everything, just like you rarely have a choice when it comes to preinstalled os's.. Yet another reason M$ is so rich & greedy... I for one am glad AMD is still out there kickin ass despite the losses. Just like I'm glad *nix has evolved into a viable consumer based free os.

Flame away if you want.....

Everything but my laptop is AMD. Saw a deal on intel, so what? I wasn't saying anything bad about AMD by posting Intel deal.

The comments I read on this were good for the price so I shared ;)
