I found several News stories that have pointed out some options to strech your rebate check just a little farther...

Sears, Kmart, LandsEnd are offering a 10% Bonus if you buy a gift card using your refund check.

Krogers is also Offering the 10% deal, but they will even accept proof of direct deposit of the check as part of the deal. :claps:

Radio Shack is giving a 10% discount on $50 purchases if you use your refund check.

Supervalu / Albertsons are allowing you to buy Store Gift Cards in $300 increments, and they will toss on an Extra $30 to the Card.

Finally Staples.com has an Economic Stimulus Center for Small Business, that is having a Giveaway and Tax Tips....

For Links to the other deals take a look at these news reports:

Wow, these are great! Thanks pakka.

We are using our rebate to purchase a gazebo for our backyard. I am now interested if the company will be giving anything off for the tax rebate.

One local pundit noted that if you spend it at Wal-Mart, the money goes to China, If you spend it at K-Mart, it goes to Japan, and if you buy gasoline, it goes to the Arab nations.
He suggested spending it on Kentucky bourbon and hookers, so it stays in the good 'ol US of A

but whatever goes to China, it comes back to US, since they are buying US bonds with the money

...

As with many pundit quips, the reality isn't as funny as the quip.

The middle east (not everybody in the midle east is an Arab, so I'm assuming that's what the guy meant) only accounts for about 19% of US petroleum imports.

Almost 50% of our imports are from American sources: Canada leading the list, followed by Mexico, Venezuela, and a few other South American countries.

But it's certainly less entertaining to say that buying gasoline gives money to the Canadians.

As Stimulus Rebates Go Out, Stores Want the Whole Check

No! You can't have it! lol

Ours is being direct deposited this Friday. Yay! We plan to put that in our MMA.

As for our refund which we are getting it toward the end of the month. Since that is already our money that we lend (interest free) to the government, that is going towards our high balance credit cards. :ohwell:

So, if you have high balance credit cards, why are you lending the Federal government money interest free? Adjust your withholding so you owe them at the end of the year. That seems like the easiest money saver of all.

Yeah I know that. My Husband and I did that already for this year.

We got married towards the end of the year in Sept so of course we filed jointly. So our previous info was still intact AFTER we got married. We just got busy and kept pushing it back. Yeah, I know. Not a good excuse.

HOWEVER, I also have an investment property that has me (property under my name) in the redline since the house was empty with no renters for a few months... so that might have done something to our refund. Plus there were other stuff to it. We didn't really have a simple tax return.

I think we are going OT... so yeah. lol

back to refund deals... I even see our local grocery stores doing their promo too. Such as purchasing $600 in gift cards and such.

Yall are just too funny!! I just be glad to get a rebate check, should have been her on the 9th, still nothing, go to the irs.gov website and it states they are still experiencing issues?? :ohwell:

I checked on the IRS website too. We were suppose to get it on the 16th.

Our refund is coming at the end of the month, but nothing is showing up for our Stimulus money yet. My Brother’s stimulus payment is going to be direct deposited this coming on Friday. He was suppose to get on the 16th too…. So there is a delay. I checked cuz I did his tax return.

Food Lion is giving 10% on $300 or more and you can cash it there for no charge. Farm Fresh is doing the same. Heck, Mine has been gone for a month (caught up on some bills). Actually, I got less then expected. My son turned 18 this May so I didn't get $300 for him. I think that was wrong. It was based on your 2007 tax return and he was 17 then. Oh well, A gift is a gift. Better than nothing.

Oops, i should have been a little more specific. Food Lion and Farm Fresh gives gift cards that you have to use at their stores.
