Is Internet Explorer 8 Better Than The Rest?

Although I'm a fan of Firefox, I installed IE8 on my Vista machine to become familiar with it and its behavior. Been using it maybe 25% of the time online. So far not a single instance of misbehavior. No freezes, no idiosyncrasies, works as expected.

If you are comfortable with IE then go ahead and use it.

The main reason I don't use it and prefer FF is because IE is a big target for every browser exploit author out there. IE is the big Kahuna and every cracker, script kiddie, and malcontent tries to break its defenses, many succeed of course. FF is for the moment just a smaller target.

Complete and total bull hockey.
I thought it was going to be a comparison with earlier versions of IE, but that would be like asking "Is this pile of poop better than that pile of poop?"

That's the most compelling reason of all. There are also other browsers to use such as Opera and Safari (the Mac browser) that work well with Windows and aren't the hacker's target.
It's also the same old story of being comfortable except that with IE, in addition to what you say above, as with Windows itself, it has all the things the others can have but built into it. Personally I prefer choice and once again, NOT what Redmond thinks I should have.

SSHhhh!

...NOT what Redmond thinks I should have.

JerryP stop this nonsense...don't you know Bill Gates is listening to every word you say on the internet?....you may think your safe.

The MS Police will hunt you down if you keep this nay saying up.

Careful.

This  from one who associates with an English Major.....:ohwell:

Someone certainly is biased with that chart.

I also read their mythbusting links too. I love this one from Myth 3:
"Internet Explorer 8 has much more functionality than other browsers...Did you know that there are more than 1,700 Internet Explorer 8 add-ons available at the Add-ons Gallery?"

Really, there are more than 1,800 add-ons in the 'Other' category from the Firefox Add-ons Web site...let alone the thousands of others combined.

Opera 10 is very fast & small & can show you a lot of websites on one page. I always wanted to see that feature.

MS pushes IE 8 with the Windows update.

Firefox has an add-on called fast dial and gives you lots of web sites on one page. There is also google-preview that shows little pages of your search results. Cool iris is pretty good too.

Safari is out from Apple, supposed to be the fastest browser yet. Looks cool. I have not used it yet. For PC or Mac.
