Is "Thank you" also "Reputation"?

I thanked someone for a post (TAZMAN for the $5 KFC giveaway) and then I also tried to spread some "reputation" to Tazman. However, I received an error loosely saying that I couldn't give "reputation" to the same post twice.

So... is saying thanks also spreading reputation?

BTW: I think you must have gotten "rep"ed by someone else as well in between me looking and "rep"ing you. It went up 6 points and I just can't believe that I would have *that* much power!

You can give points for a post twice. First you rep, then you thank. It will not work the other way around.
