Is this a virus or no big deal?

has anybody heard of a virus being sent in an email with the title "new graphic site"? I tried Googling it but nothing relevant to a virus came up in the first two or so google lists pages. (lots of suggestive stuff though...)

My FreeCycle group is getting slammed with this. It started late this afternoon, and now it has spread so that it looks like it is coming from each individual. Getting about 15 an hour or more.

Does anybody know anything about this? I'd just as soon not have my hard drive wiped out if I can avoid it...

Thanks!

Not sure, but I have had the same email messages from our freecycle group here. ( Chas WV )

Just checked my email and here's what I found for anyone belonging to freecycle...........

I copied this from another board. But so not open these email that say NW GRAPHICS SITE iT IS A VIRUS .
"New Graphic Site" (6/12/2006 6:49:37 PM): There is a new virus going around, and it shows up with the subject line of "New Graphic Site". This virus may come directly to you, not as a message distributed through the YahooGroup, which is where it started, so DO NOT open any attachments or links that you are not sure of. The apparent senders of these things are not really who they appear to be-- this is called spoofing. Do not blame the person it says it is from and do not reply to the message

You might look at this article also
Yahoo news

The e-mail virus, or worm, has been dubbed Yamanner and landed in Yahoo mailboxes bearing the headline "New Graphic Site."

Thank you so much for that information!!!

I feel a bit better, although I should probably remove my email's auto preview thingy (or maybe that's not a contaminater?)

I used to think I could learn anything I ever needed to know from Google -- now I come to Spoofee!

if you havent already, download AVG Anti-Virus and run it, you will get free updates to hopefully rid any current viruses.

Thanks so much. AVG didn't catch it, b/c apparently I don't have it yet; although I got about seventy emails with it, so I don't know how I avoided it...

The reviews were a tad confusing; The UH hoax one said the virus was in the attachment only, and the Yahoo one said it was in the email message body itself. Like I wasn't confused enough to begin with... The Microsoft one wouldn't load up for me, but hopefully no one else gets it. Thanks so much for your help.

I think they need to re-define their use of Spoofing :p

the way to infect the virus on your computer is to open the attachment on any of those 70 emails, or any unsolicited attachment from unknown senders. if you open the attachment it would infect your computer, find all your saved email addresses of your friends, and send them all emails, on your behalf, asking them to click on the attachment.

From what I have read on this virus ,you do NOT have to open any attachments, just the email it self.I guess that's what's unusual about it.
