We shrug off our ally?
"White House staff denied Mr Netanyahu the usual photo opportunities afforded to a visiting leader, issued only the vaguest summary of their talks — let alone a joint statement — and reversed a decision to release an official photo of their meetings."
[...]
"White House sources said that observers were right to infer from the news blackout that relations between the two sides were not good but later hinted that some Israeli proposals had been favourably received. Direct talks between Israel and the Palestinians have been shelved since 2008."

While softening up on a country that spews hatred toward the USA and works toward producing nuclear weapons.
The scrapped proposals included tough new measures that would increase Iran's isolation to unprecedented levels.

Am I reading too much into this?

Basically Obama is inexperienced and ineffective at diplomatic relations... that's what I'm seeing...

I hope you are right that it is inexperience and not a pattern that hints at an attempt at changing the US approach to the Middle East.

Let's make up with them! Let's buy them all healthcare!

Why not? We already bought it for the mexicans....oops, no, not WE....HE...did

Surely a healthy and well wetback is preferred to one that might otherwise contaminate/infect the U.S. population. There has been no administration that has handled the real problem of simply keeping them out of the country which is the real solution. One might think part of that solution would be treat illegals as if they were breaking the law of something like that, like it were illegal. Crazy idea. Sane politicians = oxymoron.

Note from Admin : JerryP has been warned for the offending post.

Jerry, please be PC (Politically Correct) and keep up with the times. They are no longer called Illegal Aliens (shame on you), they are undocumented citizens.

Yeah, and they're not wetbacks, they're Beaners

I say every healthy male beaner we catch gets immediately inducted into the US Army Infantry, trained(in English), and sent to Iraq and/or Afganistan. When they come back we'll talk about granting citizenship.

Oh vey!

You don't expect illegals fighting for our country, do you? What are they gonna do? "Hat-dance" the enemies to death? let them fight with their drug cartels on their own territories. Keep 'em out, period! And if you see them crossing the border undocumented, shoot to kill, then ask questions....like it's done in many other closed border countries.

I most certainly disagree with you all on this topic. I have a lot of respect for illegal immigrants that risk life and limb to try to make a better life for their family. When it comes to making 50 cents a day in a third world country or 7+ dollars an hour in the USA, I think many of us would think about it differently if we were on the other side of that fence. It's not like we chose where we were born. We were blessed enough to be welcomed into a country that is ripe with opportunity.

I think we have to protect or borders and deport illegal immigrants. However, I can't blame them for trying to get here. I've seen third world poverty up close. It makes you think twice about how blessed we truly are.

I can sympathize with their plight, and yes, we are blessed. However, if their intentions were to come here and learn and then go back to their country to improve it, I'd have a lot more respect....instead, they come here, earn what they can and send it out of the country. They are not putting those dollars back into the U.S. :nono: Yes, they are desperate, but it is also very destructive to our country.

I see your point, but the previous posts sound anything but sympathetic. I'm only saying that their reason for sending money out out of the country is actually quite honorable. Is it right? No. Stealing from the rich to give to the poor is just as wrong as stealing from the poor and giving to the rich. However, with one I have empathy and one I do not. I have to imagine that it is different when it is your family.

When you see Cubans struggling to make it to land, don't you root for them? Aren't you angry that we tell them if they make it to the land they can stay, yet we discourage them by shooting them with water guns? Sometimes I feel it's the same way with people sneaking over the border. We make it so easy if you are here, but we discourage you from crossing the border. We're sending two different messages, and that's part of the problem.

what happened, Sharon? were you away so long you forgot about the rampant racist jingoism in here?

No but it still blows my mind. In this day and age I didn't think people used word like that. I guess in the age of the internet it is easier to be blatantly racist. I wonder if they were in the same room as a Hispanic person would they still use call them those names? What if it was a small child? Would it even make a difference?
I'm glad this is not my website. I would be embarrassed.

I work with LEGAL Mexican immigrants frequently. They refer to themselves as Beaners, and to me as Gringo. No problem at all.
We're not hung up on the names and labels, we have fun with it.

We're more concerned with content of character than skin tone.

Yeah, I know a lot of hispanics and my name is Gringo. I think it's a term of endearment actually.

I speak fluent Spanish. When Hispanics ask me how I am doing, I say, "Well for a Gringo" and I get a chuckle every time. I've got no problem making fun of my ancestry.

The American Heritage Dictionary classifies gringo as "offensive slang," "usually disparaging," and "often disparaging."[1] However, the term can also be used to simply identify a foreigner and does not always carry a negative connotation.

That is the absolutely at the root of the problem. We do make it easy to be here if one is illegal. :yesnod: As far as stealing from the rich to give to the poor and empathy....why steal? Why not earn (and learn) from the rich? Stealing does not need to be involved. And no, I do not root for boat loads of illegals to make it to the shore. :nono: It only encourages more to come that way and it is very perilous......for that poor family whose father/family provider just drowned or died on the journey...now they have nothing, not even a father. It is also a slap in the face to those immigrants who did come over here legally and at great expense and sacrifice.

Being illegasl here, they have the potential of being taken advantage of (they have been) because they are illegal....who do they report that to? and risk being sent home? or to jail? Yes their life here is better than 'there', but they are still legally criminals.

I understand they are desperate but there has to be a better way. Overturn their corrupt governments...there are plenty legal immigrants here from their countries who do understand their situations and can help them make their 'mother country' a better place so that life there would not be so desperate (and I don't mean send them all U.S. cash). The U.S. cannot go and liberate and support every country nor can we afford to take every 'desperate' person onto our shores.......but we can be a model and help them learn to make their homes a better place.

Is it better to give a man a fish or to teach a man to fish? Just like in an airplane, you put your mask on first, then you will be in better shape to assist those around you in need. If you don't take care of yourself first, then you are no good to anyone, you are just another in the line of needing assistance.
