John Edwards admits to affair

Uh this is so disappointing. I have always liked John Edwards too. I can't believe he would cheat on his wife while she had cancer! I am really glad he is not running for VP now.

He always seemed like such a decent guy. :ohwell: Guess there really is no such thing as a good human being in politics.

I can't believe he didn't think he would get caught being in the public eye the way he is.:stupid: That woman he had an affair with is scary looking. :hmpf:

Not to mention all the stuff about his PAC paying her $100k for making four YouTube videos, one just over two minutes. :mmph:

I'm sorry, we're talking about a narcissistic ambulance chaser who made his fortune convincing ignorant juries that congenital birth defects in children were caused by the hospitals in which they were born. Why should this come as a surprise?

Tell us how you really feel Dan. :p Yes I was surprised, I though he was a decent guy who loved his wife and Elizabeth doesn't seem like the type who would put up with this. It doesn't matter though. His political career is ruined.

By ruined do you mean like the Clintons were after let's see first:alleged affair (don't even remember who now, sometime early in the "season", second: didn't inhale (is that even possible?) and third: actually caught w/Monica, fourth: thinks we're dumb enough to believe he doesn't know the definition to everyday words, fifth: perhaps he doesn't know the definition to everyday words? Good quaility in politics. Sixth: Didn't they furnish their new home w/ "extras" from the White House when they left? ...I can't even go on. Sure took a long time to "ruin" they're political careers...wait? Clinton's who?

Ok not to sounds like a total b*tch but why is everyone soooooooooo shocked?? HONESTLY!!! Like affairs are a NEW thing. If it wasnt for the media like it is now all these politicians celebrities would never have their sex life plastered everywhere and nobody would think different about them. How many of us have been cheated on?? How is it any different? Just because he is in the public eye? Or b//c his wife had cancer?
Look at the man....he looks like an arrogant prick! Now hes saying the child isnt his but he wont agree to a paternity test.....JUST LIKE any other person dealing with this crap.

This has nothing to do with POLITICS its Human Nature! He had to get his ummmm off LOL

I think it is interesting that they are reporting it like..."Well, he wasn't cheating on his wife during the time she was battling cancer." Is this even true, and does it honestly matter? It's like saying, well he respects his wife enough to wait to cheat on her while she is healthy. Huhh? Did I miss something? I tell you what, if my husband ever cheated...to the curb with ya!!

Can't wait to see if the kid is his. One would have though he would have that tested for by now.

I think the fact that he cheated on his wife while she was battling cancer just adds to the "ick factor". I do not think it is meant to say if she was healthy it would be less offensive, actually that it makes so much more offensive. (..and yes, in the interview he does confirm it was during her cancer battle). As absurd as it sounds there are some cheating dogs out there that would not do that to their wives in their most critical time of need~as the old adage goes, there is even honor among thieves.

I don't know.....it seems the older I get, the more I become suspect of any couple that publicly, loudly, over the top, proclaims their bond of love to everyone that will listen....they always seem to have the biggest skeletons in the closet. I find it is usually wiser to follow in the footsteps of those that quietly go about the job of actually loving each other and treating each other with respect, that do not need the admiration of anyone else for this accomplishment...just each other.

Elizabeth doesn't seem like the type who would put up with this.

Sharon, I thought the same thing --- that she seems like someone who would kick a cheater to the curb, that she wasn't just going to take him back.

I wonder if she's staying with him for the kids...that family has already been through so much personal trauma so she may well feel like she owes it to the kids to not put them through a divorce on top of everything else that's coming. Too bad he didn't show the family the same consideration. :mmph:

I hope she's not going to do the stand-by-your-man routine though. It's disgusting when political wives have to pull a Dina McGreevey, publicly defending/supporting the same @sshole who treated them with such callous and blatant disregard. He made the mess, let him deal with it on his own, like a grown man.

BTW, the other woman looks like a bit like Camilla Parker Bowles to me.

Drifa, what are those things on your avatar?

 damn democrats.......first Clinton, then Jonny boy......Obama is next. They're really pushing for publicity these days.

There has been plenty of republicans to have affairs too. John McCain, Newt Gingrich, Rudy Giuliani and they all ran for office.

... believe me... I have a sister who works at the County Election Office and there are already people investigating him too.

Good! Shouldn't look too hard, I'm sure there's plenty of good 'ol dirt ;)
After 8 years of circus, we don't need yet another clown running our country.

Sorry....... :focus:

Darn those "sanctity of marriage" values.
