Does anyone own this monitor? If so how has it been treating you?

My friend used to work at KDS. In his personal opinion, KDS monitors weren't all that great. He recommended getting something else. But given such a low price for this deal, you can't really lose much. It is still an LCD monitor!

Got two during the last go round....

Other than the Rebate being a real pain to fill out correctly, the Monitors are bad. Good brightness, no ghosting, good detail. I forgot to check if it had built-in speakers and had to scramble to resurrect some old speakers, but nothing serious.

In addition, found a good desk mount arm to use with these lcd monitors over at CompGeeks.com for only $20 and free shipping during their Green Light sale.

All in all, not a bad purchase for such a cheap price. The monitor isn't the absolute top of the line like a Samsung, but it also did cost like a Samsung. For the price of a cheap monitor you are getting a middle of the road LCD monitor with good quality.

Oh yeah, about the Rebates, be careful. The original rebate forms were poorly written and qualifications for Alaska and Hawaii were strung behind the basic qualifications for the rest of the U.S. Seems for Alaska and Hawaii you had to make it an IN-STORE purchase and couldn't do an online internet sale. But the way the form was written it could be construed to apply to the lower 48 as well. I checked with the Rebate center and in their system the operators were seeing it as a qualification as well. So for anyone who sent in the rebate from the previous deal if you are told they are disallowed because you did meet the qualifications and you bought it online make sure to call in and complain. You will get you rebate according to the rebate center after they actually read the form. I just doubt them reading and understanding the form when they were on the phone with me will translate into them changing their system to make sure they don't accidentally disallow anyone, hence the warning here. The good news is the new deals rebate forms appear to have this mess corrected and have the qualifications separated into boxes. Just thought I would pass that along in case it helps anyone.

Hope that helps.

I own this KDS monitor. Picked it up on a similar rebate for a little less I think. I also own 2 other Proview 17" monitors. Proview makes the KDS monitor. I have no complaints with any of them. IMO, for the price it's hard to beat. I paid $100-150 for my Proviews. Not long ago one had to pay $250 for used 17" lcd's.

Thanks for the input guys. I really apreciate it. I think Im going to wait for some black friday sales. I went off to Staples today and I am chummy with a paticular manager. He told me they started stocking up on some generic LCD screens most likely that will be on sale for Black Friday. Hopefully the deal will be worthwhile.

i can only choose local pick up, will i not get those free gifts?

yes, you won't.

the coupons and free items with purchase are only for online orders.

I bought one several months ago for $166 after rebate from Office Depot. The picture is awesome. almost too bright. I like that I can turn it on and off real fast when I'm ready to leave my desk. DVDs look great when played on this screen. Resolution is above average. I do miss my 21" monitor, BUT, I love having more desk space.

I had no problem with the rebates. One $30 and one $70 and they have both come in.
I had no problem understanding the rebate. Like any rebate, read it fully first and follow it to the letter.
