Just wanted to throw this up here in case anyone else has this problem:

My Kodak Z740 camera just went out of warranty (March 31st) and just 4 days after, when I changed batteries, the camera would turn on for a couple seconds, then immediately turn off. It was as if the batteries were dead, but they were brand new Panasonic ones (albeit from the dollar store).

Long story short, apparently you're ONLY supposed to use the special digital camera rechargable AA batteries (not alkaline AA's), and they of course recommended Kodak brand (at $3/battery). When I bought some generic rechargable 2500 mah batteries, and fully charged them, the camera turned on and worked fine.

So if your Kodak camera has the same issue with turning on then off almost immediately, try some fresh RECHARGABLE digital camera batteries. Hopefully this post will help someone in the future.

Oh hey...that's the kind I have. I was wondering why it was doing that. I was buying batteries for that thing every other week....and then it started that crap.
thank you!! ;)

the key is the the mah, anything ABOVE 1600 to 2000 mah is good for digital cameras

hmm, is that a mustache on your lip??? lol

Oh great....it does look like that huh? Must have forgot to shave it off. :clown:

They do use a lot of power. You should be able to use any rechargeble battery.

Those were probably old batteries you got at the dollar store.
