I purchased the 404 about 3 years ago from walmart for 496.00. Last year they had the 414 at "Ritz" for 199.00 and I got two more. Overall the camera is slow but it takes wonderful pictures and has a good deal of user changeable settings found in the more expensive digital SLR's. It takes AA batteries, which in a pinch, can be found practically anywhere if the rechargables go out. A good deal for this price!
