Hey there spoofee's

We are heading to Las Vegas in a couple of weeks and need some suggestions for restaurants besides the usual Buffet's etc...

Any great reccommendations for places to eat off the beaten path? or on the strip

Any must see shows?

Thanks for any suggestions...

and for not-so-cheapo -- go see cirque du soleil's "mystere" ... it's wonderful!!!
if i could go, i'd go see blue man group- i'll bet they're phenomenal!

Please see this thread:

Cirque's O is on top of my list. Watched it twice and it's still breath-taking! I second Cirque's Mystere, it is also good. What I found out, if you watch what you think is the best show first, your subsequent shows will be unappealing. But then, it depends on what kind of shows you're interested in...

What kind of food are you wanting? You can come eat at my house ;)

If you haven't seen Blue Man Group, Las Vegas is the place to see it. I have seen it in three cities and Las Vegas was the BEST. It's showing at the Luxor Hotel.

Go to the Gold Coast for their late night breakfast (after 11). Super cheap and super good!

I went with my gf a couple of years ago. Saw "Mystere" and "O" by Cirque du Soleil. O was by far the superior show. For things to do, Theres the pirate show at Mandalay Bay. The volcano at the Mirage, and the dancing water (every 15 minutes) at Bellagio. You can tour the Venetian on a gondola. My gf used to live in italy and she was very surprised by such an authentic copy of the Piazza san Marco. Just so you know theres an express bus that goes from resort to resort on the strip without stopping at all the stops in between.

As far as restaurants, not so cheap is "Tsunami" and more reasonable is "Noodle Asia". I'm pretty sure theyre both in the Venetian. With all the good restaurants there are in Vegas we went to Noodle Asia on more than one occasion. Tsunami accepts reservations onlinehere. And a few reviews of Noodle Asia here. They have a steamed wonton appetizer that comes in a spicy red sauce, I cant recommend that enough. I didnt like Wolfgang Pucks. Tsunami and Wolfgangs were really all the fancy eating we did.

Oh, and if youre undecided, dont stay at the MGM Grand. Our experience was less than wonderful (and for the money the rooms cost in those places, it should be wonderful). I have heard great things about the Aladdin, though. No room is more than 7 doors from an elevator (!) and theres broadband in the rooms (for a fee, prolly).

I have a small tour book for Vegas if you want to borrow it I can send it to you. Its the Las Vegas Mini Rough Guide. You have to promise to send it back, though. I have another one I cant find, but will look for again...

Thanks for all of the great info.
We have decided to stay at the Bellagio. I'll report back if we have any great finds!!!

wow...! bellagio.. nice.. I just came back from Vegas.. i happen to like the Rio for gambling and food... its pretty festive.. I think there is a coupon for the buffet too.. but again.. buffet...

We just recently watched Zumanity.. which is definitely more adult.. I blushed several times... but very fun..

Also KA at the MGM is really good. There is more of a story line to follow and everything is really beautiful... the set is so different from the other Cirque shows.. I would actually suggest this over the other ones..

saw the blue man group in boston, they're amazing :)

Squid, i dunno about a pirate show @ the mandalay bay, but there's definately one at Treasure Island

Dont you ever contradict me in front of the kids!

No, thanks for correcting me. Thats the one I was talking about..

*BUMP!*

We're heading to Vegas ourselves! Any new tips or info?

(Already got eat at the Carnival Buffet at Rio from the restaurant thread. ;) )

BTW: We'll be staying at Caesar's. Hubby has a conference. I'm just along for the ride.

I'm so glad you mentioned Blue Man Group earlier! I love them! I have seen their show twice in Vegas now. Blue Man Group Rocks! I got kissed by one of them on my 21st b-day. I'll have to post a picture! If you haven't been to the Venetian, go check it out. I never spend any money there because it's so expensive, but there is so much there to look at.

Have fun! Let us know jow your trip went!

There is some good information to be found in this thread too. The bus pass idea I posted there works very well and saves wear and tear on your feet. I am going to Vegas again over the New Years weekend, cannot wait to party Vegas style again. :beer_yum:

I cant say enough about Noodle Asia in the Venetian.. now that I think about it, it might be the Bellagio.. No, its the Venetian, sorry. Its in one of my earlier posts. Excuse me while I chant: Noodle Asia, Noodle Asia, Noodle Asia.
If you want to borrow my little tour book, just ask. Ive not seen KA, but I saw Mystere and O in Vegas and they were both fantastic.

Im going to Albuquerque in October for the Balloon Festival. Any advice there?
