I had one and I had not used it in so long I dont know what it is have money on it and everything. But I want to find one that is well known with no membership fee that if I couold use paypal that would be great. I wanted to use limewire but I have heard to many bad things. The one I had I thought was like 4 letters long. But if someone knows one please let me know

sorry, don't know any legal ones

Maybe I don't understand the Q.

You're looking for a place that sells music and is legal? How about iTunes? Amazon? Napster?

My daughter uses one based in Russia that she is comfortable with. They charge pennies for songs. I haven't pointed out to her that even though she thinks she's doing the right thing I doubt that any music company is seeing any of those pennies. Personally, as an individual who is not trying to profit out of it, I don't see much difference from being able to rip/record a radio stream (which can't be regulated) or buying a used CD or downloading an mp3 for free except that the music industry thinks I am ripping them off by not paying their exorbitant prices. Of course I use free software too.

Try www.gomusic.ru, a Russian Web site that offers songs from 6 cents per to 15 cents per song. If you purchase the whole album, they take 10% off.

The RIAA tried to shut them down, but "[a]ccording to the site's Copyright Agreement, the site is legal, at least in Russia, in accordance with the Noncommercial Partnership Federation of Authors and Rightsholders for Collective Management of Copyright in Interactive Regime." (Wikipedia)

I have purchased well over $150 from them without any problems. No spam, no weird credit card charges, no nothing but happy music bliss.

I used to use www.jamglue.com it was free, but I'm sure they would take a donation if you would like to pay. :noidea:

I don't know how clean the music is though :nonod:

In fact, you just reminded me to get more music. I still have over $65 in credit with them.

Thanks guys yeah I was looking for something that is a good site. That is well known that I can download a few songs here and there and pay for them so I dont feel so bad lol. I will try those places thanks

Legal or not (which may be the only important point) do "we" really think these Russians pay the artist for the works they sell?

 As I alluded to earlier I think the greed of the U.S. music companies and loser bands like Metallica (who think the reason that people aren't "buying" their music is because they have an evil-fan-thief-following bent on just ripping them off - http://www.techdirt.com/blog.php?tag=metallica - and can't imagine it's just that their music is not really all that liked) is just a failure to keep up with the times and realize that the solution is to develop a new paradigm that does allow them to "make a living" like the average person and not "make them filthy rich" as they seem to feel their "extraordinary talents", either creatively or managerially, entitle them to. They need to get real.

Did I mention the subject pizziz me off? :mmph:
