Buy.com carries the Lexar 1GB Secure Digital Card for $51. There is a rebate running on the product for $40 which lists Buy.com as an accepted retailer. Free shipping, your price is $11 after a $40 rebate.

Pricegrabber Price : $60.25 - $168.99 Shipped

Note : The operators on the 1866 number on the $40 rebate states we will only get a $18 rebate. This is a risky deal now.

1. Buy.com Price : $50.95
2. Rebate Price : -$40.00
Final Price : $10.95 Shipped After Rebate

THanks Erik, took a dive on this one.

The rebate is also good for the 1GB JumpDrive. Does anyone know whether you can get the SD card and the JumpDrive? The form says one rebate per product category per person per household. I'm not sure if the the 2 items are separate categories.

Also, I suppose the $18 rebate would be a no go if you use the $40 one.

There is a different rebate that Buy.com doesn't link to.

I think the $40 rebate is fake, since the $18 rebate on Buy.com has the same offer number.

I found this on another website regarding $40 rebate:

" I have already sent newegg asking about the rebate $$ problem on Sunday. Today (Monday Feb 21) I called the rebate center in the AM. They picked up within 1 minute. I referenced the promotion #. They state that their computer shows it is an $18 amount only, NOT $40. They had no idea about a $40 rebate for this offer #. For you risktakers that think you will get your $40, think again. Only NEWEGG lists the wrong rebate amount on their form. Buy.com specifically lists the RIGHT rebate form. If you bought at newegg with their advertised price after rebate showing the $40 rebate maybe... you will probably have to take it up with newegg I think. I highly doubt that Lexar will give anything more than $18, especially when the retailer you are purchasing from has the CORRECT rebate form. As others have mentioned this correct rebate form is on every participating authorized merchant except newegg.com. "

Hope this help.

It looks like Buy.com is going in and out of stock. Just a minute ago it said it was no longer available, but now it's back up.

I just called Lexar to double check, it is a $18.00 rebate and NOT a $40.00 rebate.

$40 Rebate invalid, $18 rebate is correct

:thumbs_do

Hi, I called the 1-866 phone number for the rebate center listed at the bottom of the rebate form and they were instanly aware of the two different rebate forms asking me if my call was regarding this specific rebate before I even had a chance to explain any rebate offer I was calling about. They stated that the $40 rebate was invalid and that the $18 rebate was the valid rebate for the Secure Digital 1GB card. Very sorry to report this, as i wanted to purchase one of these too... :o

Hmm. but wouldn't they need to honor what the rebate forms state? I just called them and they said those people that send this rebate in will "probably" get a $18 rebate check.

I asked if it wouldn't cause legal issues since it clearly states the $40 rebate is good for "Buy.com" and the guy told me to talk to Buy.com and they are not responsible. Went back n forth that the rebate states so, not Buy.com, but he was reading off a script to tell me to go talk to Buy.com. I'll list this on the front page.

Guys,

I just called the rebate center and spoke to them. Before even I could verify the rebate he told me that there is a discrepancy with buy.com listing as $40 rebate. Buy.com would have to take care of this issue. Buy.com is listing only $18 rebate so you will loose $22 eventually.

I just cancelled my order which I placed this morning.

"Erik", please verify all the information before you post it.

Thanks for wasting my time in ordering and cancelling it again.

You didn't happen to talk to buy.com did you?

I just cancelled my order at buy.com

I spoke to the 1866 number on the $40 rebate form, he said that they would only accept $18 rebate and not $40. They have a printing error on the rebate from. We cannot talk to buy.com because their rebate is $18 which is valid. So I don't think there is any chance even to risk.

Are you serious? He tried helping everyone out with a great deal. Looking at the form that was provided, there wouldn't be any reason to think it wouldn't be valid.

I second that. It is the buyer's responsibility to check the validity of the rebate. I always read the fine prints on the rebate before submitting it. And in this case, there is no reason why the original poster should call Lexar to check to see if the rebate is $40 or $18 as it is clearly printed on the rebate form.

Having said that, I do thank the other posters for notifying us of the misprint so we won't have to go thru the ordering and cancelling process.

official buy.com notice

received this by email:
Dear _____,

We are writing to you regarding your order #xxxxxxxx.

At Buy.com we strive to provide the widest assortment of high-quality
products at everyday low prices.

We were recently informed that there was some confusing information
posted by another company's website regarding a rebate allegedly offered
on item 10382184. The other company was selling this item on their
website at a higher price than we were, but they posted a rebate form
offering a rebate of $40 on this item. This rebate was not a valid
manufacturer rebate.

We have discussed this with the product's manufacturer (the sponsor of
the manufacturer rebate). The manufacturer has informed us that this
was an error on the part of the other website. In addition, Buy.com did
not authorize the other company to use the Buy.com name or logo on that
rebate form.

Buy.com does offer an $18 rebate on this product and the correct form
for that rebate was posted on our website, correctly, at the time. If
you are eligible for that rebate, then please follow instructions on the
rebate form to apply for your $18 rebate.

If you feel you no longer want this product, please visit our website
help pages for instructions on how get return authorization and how to
return a product.

We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience.
