Lexar 8GB ExpressCard External Solid State Disk for $9.99 Shipped

Just bought 2 at that price. I'd rather a 16GB or 32GB card, but for $10 and an "internal" fit in my MBP, they are very well worth it.

I got one of theses last time.. people said they were slow.. but i thought that they couldnt be that slow... but they are.

I go one figuring I could load a linux distro and it would save me from having to load vista if I just wanted to check something online. I actually take almost (if not longer) to boot Ubuntu 8.10 off of this then it was to cold boot vista. These things are SLOW, but to be honest I feel that its worth the $10 because there is nothing else I'm going to use the ExpressCard slot for so why not.

What hardware do you use it on? The reviews I found showed some of the speed issues to be related to hardware that doesn't properly implement ExpressCard.

My intent is to use one as a TimeMachine backup drive and the other for a development resource storage that both Mac and Vista64 can view.
