I'm trying to find a free program that will let me burn MP3s for all these NPR podcasts I've downloaded. I have Roxio/Easy CD maker and Media Player and RealAudio etc., but their free versions only let you burn audio CDs, not MP3s. (They all want big bucks for that version...).

Thanks so much if anybody has any ideas!

Boy, it is finally a gorgeous day here in the North East. Hooray!!!

why dont you just use your iTunes to burn mp3s to CD?

Well, the windows media player on this machine just will not let me choose/browse from the files on my computer (it has preorganzied the choices for me);
and I have searched my iTunes program high and low and found no mp3 (or CD) burning ability or button or menu...

And the nice mp3cdmaker program (above) only lets you put mp3 tunes onto a regular cd, not make an mp3 cd (the kind with tons of tunes) which is what I am trying to do.

Looks like I may have to break down and purchase an upgrade of RealPlayer or Roxio or some other one. Is there one that is more highly recommended?

Thanks for the info, it real helps the 'puter-challenged...

dont you just create a new list in itunes, put your songs or programs in the new list and then right click the folder list and select burn?

Itunes will burn MP3's for ya and it's free :D

Okay, I'm taking your advice

I'm trying to make a playlist to burn in iTunes, b/c I believe you that it's possible! But it only lets me choose stuff that show up as their own podcasts;, isn't there some way I can pick/browse/select the files on my hard drive (from My Documents)?

Sorry to be such a moron. If it weren't for the music and the shopping, I wouldn't even bother with computers I don't think...

I'm still working on creating a playlist. I haven't even found the "burn" button yet.

click on "File"

select "New Playlist"

type in your name of the playlist

click on the playlist you just created and named, then, drag your mp3s into the the wide open empyt list to the right where it says Name, Title, Artist, etc. (dragging the mp3s into this list just creates a list, it doesnt actually move the files around on your computer)

when you are done with adding stuff to your playlist, RIGHT click on the playlist folder you created and select "Burn Playlist to Disk"

if you use a computer, you are not a moron

The easiest way it add your files to the iTunes library is to select them in windows and drag them into iTunes. Once you have your files added to the library select file -> new play list. Drag the songs from your library into the play list. With the play list selected the burn button is in the upper right corner. One thing to note, you will prob need to go to Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Burning and select Disk format as MP3.

Enjoy :D
