Looking for a good deal on a laser printer or laser AIO

I've put about 15 Brother HL-1440s in use where I work; they don't care if they're put in the service bay and get covered in grease and metallic particles - they just keep printing. However, they don't make this printer anymore. 
I have no experience with the small, 1/3-size printer that replaced it.
The only bad things about these printers is that it says the drum is dead far before it needs replacing. There's a thread at techimo where I ask and somebody replies with directions on how to reset the counter. (I reset the counter three times on one printer before light vertical lines started to appear!) Also, there's something weird with the toner cartridges. Every now and again, they'll print a light gray haze on the entire paper. Once it starts, the toner cartridge will need to be replaced. Thankfully it doesn't happen often, but Brother's "Replace the toner" response is maddening to say the least.
The 4100 is a Printer/Fax that uses the same technology as the 1440 and is on sale every now and again at Staples, but it's normally around $250. Maybe if you can stack a few coupons/rebates you could get it down around what you want to spend.
