Hi,
I've been looking for a Logitech MX500 or MX700 mouse. They used to go for pretty good deals, but nowadays I can't seem to find one under $40 + shipping for a new MX500. Justdeals has one for $24 for a refurbished one, but the shipping is over $10! Any help would be appreciated :-)

I tried the MX500 once. It was truly awful, go and reward yourself and try the Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer which you can get for just over $20 shipped, and it's a much better mouse. Do yourself a favor, don't buy the Logitech, it's terrible.

I've used many mice from both brands, including the Intellimouse Explorer and the MX500, and I like the accuracy of Logitech mice hands down. 800dpi as opposed to 400dpi of Microsoft mice really makes a difference; I'm a hardcore CS player, and I can really feel it. I use an MX300 right now, with the same internals as the MX500, but I like how the latter mouse forms to my hand. To each is own :-)

+1

Although I've had good luck with older microsoft mice, in the past few years, I have grown a preference to logitech. I still use my old Logitech/Dell Mouseman Pro ball mouse. I will upgrade to a logitech optical when the time/money comes. I am a hardcore gamer and require precision mice, and logitech hasn't failed me yet. CS/Quake/whatever the game, Moving a mouse very quickly requires it to track without error. I've been through 3 Microsoft optical mice, Wheel mouse optical, intellimouse optical, and intellimouse explorer. they all have tracking problems at high speeds.

I've got the MX700 wireless combo. I find it better than the Intellimouse due to the scroll button, but both are fine. I saw the combo at Staples for $50. Sorry for not really answering....just here to lend my 2 cents :p
