I bought several hundred dollars worth of Marriott gift cards back during the Covid crisis when the hotels were all desperate. Two times I stayed at a Marriott brand hotel and two times they refused to accept them. You have to present them when you check out. And at that point when they refuse, there's nothing you can do except get angry. These people that work the desks at all of their branded hotels don't have a clue. I unloaded the cards on gift card granny. Will never stay at Marriott again.
