Maxtor 200GB Hard Drive for $69.99 Shipped

This is not a bad price if you hate dealing with rebates. There are better deals available, they require sending in rebates though. As for Maxtor HD's I would not recommend them, I have had way to many of them fail after about 1 1/2 to 2 years. I have had no troubles with Western Digital HD's failing. But this is just my opinion, so take it for what it is worth.

By the way welcome to Spoofee and thanks for posting. :)

I just recently put my Seagate 200GB in an external Bytecc FireWire enclosure for my Mac. It works well. I recommend Seagate, and their 5 year warranty is great. Also, after rebates, they're around the same price or a little less than this drive.

if you get a maxtor hard drive you deserve what comes along with it. I bought a 160 gig drive a while back and had to send it back to maxtor 4 times before I received one that worked. their service is great, but their product is trash. it cost me 8 dollars to ship the drive each time adding 32 bucks to the price of the drive

buy a seagate

No problems EVER - a story in power managment

I have yet to have a Maxtor or any other HDD die on me.
I have 4 in my computer now plus two in my usb externals enclosures.
You need to make sure you have enough power going to your drives - most of the time it seems like people blame the HDD when they really should blame the power supply.

Now that might not be your story and if it isn't - sorry that Maxtor hasn't been good to you.
In my experience I have never had any trouble but I spend more on power supplies and external housings than most people.

my problem aint technical.. My problem is that the page says one per household.. Bastids, Id like to get two of them. So now what I need is another great deal on a HD (160, 200GB somewhere around there).

i would get this but i'm saving up to so i can build a new system which i'm gonna be putting in a sata drive. my system rite now have 4 hard drive already. i've always used maxtor hd and never had any problems with them.

Am currently running internal and external versions of Wd, Maxtor, and Seagate HD's. So far not a single failure even though I do have a Maxtor 160 that sounds like a Kawasaki motorcycle changing gears when it starts up. (This is probably a sign of failure down the road). Buy on cost per gig no matter the brand and burn it in (leave it on alot and shut it on and off while under warranty).

I have a maxtor 160GB. Has been good so far. But it is so much noisier than my Hitachi that I can't believe it. It sounds like a turbocharger spooling up.

Dude, mine just arrived by DHL 2nd Day.. Freakin awesome.. Im going to try to order a second one now..

Must pay shipping now (8.95 for me)

Had my friend order me the second one last night and I had to pay shipping.. shipping is now 8.95 on top of the 69.99, so its 78.94 or something..

whats a good gauge on PS vs HD watts? google brings back worthless returns.

btw- out of the 10 or so hd i have bought, the one maxtor drive i have bought barely lasted the warranty period. my other wd have lasted at least 2 to 3 times the maxtor.
