Maxtor SATA 200GB Hard Drive for $69.99 Shipped

wow, comes with a PCI SATA card? not half bad. if i didn't have SATA in my motherboard already, i would definitely jump on this. good find, spoofee!

I still haven't jump on the SATA bandwagon yet. Maybe this is the time for a upgrade. :D

hmm, SATA

I have a testbench pc that has sata... but I bought this for my main pc. I wonder if I have enough PCI slots.

i have two IDE hard drives and one SATA hard drive (with my operating system on it), and the most noticeable difference i saw after upgrading to SATA was that the loading times for video games decreased drastically. FEAR, the game, used to take a solid 2 minutes to load a new level on my IDE drives. with my new SATA hard drive, it takes about 30 sec.

So if I already have my IDE chains maxed out, will this card allow me to toss in two more drives?

Kind of wish this didnt have the card.. Then they could sell the drive for another $20 less. I would totally buy the drive for $50.

aww man, its OUT OF STOCK. do you think Staples will restock by the 18th?

Most people use broadband so if your system (like mine) has a modem sitting in a pci slot you can remove it and put this sata card in. The only thing you need that's not included are some splitters for the power supply and someplace to mount the drive. I don't have either and thought I might just velcro the drive to the inside of the case.

Ive been told that in order to install SATA you need to have a floppy drive (for software installation purposes). Is this true? Cuz none of my four has one.

Not true at all. You can using regular driver install files.. now if the driver files come on floppy you may have a problem but they should be avalible on the manufacturers website.

BTW this sucks.. I was saving a coupon code for something like this.
