medical question about Vasectomy

of course, talking to the doctor is best, and we're waiting for our follow up appt in 2 weeks (thanks, HMO) but in the meantime i was wondering if anyone here knows anyone or has had experience like this:
my husband had a vasectomy last year- it was painful (of course) but it healed. however, now he's suffering from severe pain at "specific" times... (um, don't want to be too graphic and overstep the boundaries of the forum)
anyway, it's called Post Vasectomy Pain Syndrome and it's uncommon, but recognized... i've read that the best and most effective treatment is to have a vasectomy reversal, but more babies is NOT supposed to be in my future ;)... there are other treatment options available, but for the pain he's in, i'd rather just fix it right the first time- we've been getting the runaround from the "specialist" for months now. he's tried anti-inflammatory meds, wearing special undergarments, and abstinence (oooh fun!) and nothing's helped. we've heard about injections and corrective surgeries. just wondering if anyone here has had or knows someone who has had PVPS or a vasectomy reversal and what the results were like?
i know sometimes i'm the queen of tmi, but sometimes it helps to talk about things...
thanks guys :)

My husband had a similar situation, maybe not as severe...He never saw a doctor to follow up...He kind of massaged the painful area, as if maybe there was some sort of scar tissue underneath..I would say, maybe 18mo - 2yrs post surgery he stopped having pain or discomfort, during that "special time" :)

You're sure your hubby doesn't have a herneia (sp) Lots of cops get herneias from the weight of the gun belt. My brother, (also a cop like my hubby and my dad) recently had herneia surgery.

Good luck!!!

thanks, wildbanchee and apocalypse, for your input :)

nope, but hope it gets better soon!

good luck :)

Just get the reversal treatment , then kick him in the groin real hard once every day for a month.

That should take care of the procreation problem

well, todd has an appt with the pp doc tomorrow so hopefully we'll get some resolution. i read about nerve blocking injections that should relieve the pain- the only problem is if the "tubes" get infected, they could end up having to be removed.... might be better off just reversing it and wearing a "raincoat"...
so anyway, i'll let you all know how things go for todd and when i'm pregnant again LOL
thanks again everyone for your support :)
oh yeah, something else... if i'm running a LOT like i have been, i reduce my chance of conceiving... all the more reason to keep moving huh?!

sigh , u decided to pass on my "kick him in the nuts" suggestion?

sorry, dehawk, but that doesn't seem to be the answer to the problem... maybe kicking YOU in the nuts would help LOL LOL
ohhh you know i luvs ya ;)
i think if i kicked him in the groin i wouldn't have to deal with his pain issues anymore... i don't think i'd be dealing with him personally anymore for that matter... i think i'd be contacted by his lawyer  :thumbs_do

and thank you, penpen and spoofee for your well wishes :)

thanks, gabe, i'll keep that in mind ;)

well, for an update, todd went to see the doc today and was put on nerve-desensitizing meds... apparently he's got a nerve that's "trapped" in between the severed ends... YUCK
basically, his choices are pain meds or surgery... and for now, pain meds are the only option, as surgery is a HUGE decision
so as we figure out what to do (although i already feel like i know the answer), keep us in your thoughts and prayers, as this is really hard on our intimacy and, in turn, our marriage. thanks guys :)

of course! :rose:

Has the dr checked for Chronic Orchialagia?
Its very common and is usually the cause of pain after a vasecetomy.

Also, sperm granulomas can be painful. Most DRs will say they aren't, but every case I have seen of it, there was moderate to severe testicular pain.
