Memorex 512mb Travel Drive for Free + Make $10 After Rebate

Circuit City has the Memorex 512mb TravelDrive USB Drive for $25 after rebate and Office Depot has the same item for $25 without rebates. This is a great pricematch opportunity.

Pricegrabber Price : $31.98 ~ $64.94 Shipped

Note : This deal is YMMV. Some CC managers may reject saying there is a rebate.

1. Make a print out of Office Depot's Ad and this page
2. Go to your local Circuit City and pick up a 512mb Memorex travel drive ( $59.99 )
3. Let the rebate goods print out at the cash register.
4. Go to your car and drop off the rebate receipts/rebate forms and pick up the print out of the ad.
5. Go back in and get a pricematch to Office Depot. ( Pricematch : -$25.00 )
6. Rebate1 Price : -$20.00
7. Rebate2 Price : -$15.00
Final Price : Free + Make $10

1 more opportunity

same deal again. Those who did not submit rebate or denied PM can try again.

thanks for posting this... I'll try it at my local CC.

However, I can't figure out how to "make $10" in the process.

The item is $60 at CC. After $25 of OfficeDepot price
match, it becomes $35. (60-25=35) The CC rebate is
only $35. So final price is $0. So where do I make the $10?

Thanks!

The price at Office Depot is $25, not $35... So thats how you make the extra $10

just a side note,

The manufacturer #s do not match, and the last time I tried this they wouldn't let me price match it because it was different items.

But if you do end up getting a willing employee and you have a 2006 Entertainment book, there is a circuit city 10% off any memory card, or memory card accessory, I believe these traveldrives should be under that category. That covers tax+

This was a great deal... I did this the first time it was posted and it worked great! I'm tempted to do it again. :bigok: I didn't get the extra 10% that you're supposed to get with a price match though, so beware.

How about ordering online and pickup at store? the rebates don't print when you pickup the merchandise. Also you can play the 24/24 maybe you get lucky with a $24 gift card, but for only 1 item is hard they can not fill your order in 24min.

That's right, Spoofee needs to edit Step 5 from:
5. Go back in and get a pricematch to Office Depot. ( Pricematch : -$25.00 )
to
5. Go back in and get a pricematch to Office Depot. ( Pricematch : -$35.00 )

In theory the pricematch should be 38.50 (110% difference) but most will deny the pricematch and the few that comply will not give you the extra 10%.

Exactly what I did last time. Transaction was smooth as butter, and I got the full 110% PM.

But Did Anyone Get The Rebate From Last Time >?

Still to far out - I made the purchase on 12/13, submitted on 12/15, and will take 6-8 weeks to process. I did, however, get an email confirmation that my CC rebate was accepted and in final processing.

110%

when they say 10% off, they mean 10% of the difference. Lets say CC is selling something for 100 and the competitor is selling it for 90. They will pricematch and give you an additional 10% of the difference which means 10% of $10 will be another $1 off. so you get it for $89 at CC instead $90 at the competitor's store.

Okay.. yes, it's line (5) that got me confused a bit.
Spoofee should have said $35, not $25.... :)

what possible reasons would CC come up with for denying
the pricematch? Just want to be prepared before I go into
the store.

The price at Office Depot is valid, current, and in-stock.
CC's pricematching policy is in writing, no?

Thanks!

It wont work.

It does not apply to special offers or promotions, including rebates,

You have to find a manager who's "lesser". Not a sales manager or something like that, just a peon manager. Go when it's busy and they're all tied up and delegating crap to the lesser guy.

Definately order online though, otherwise you have no chance.

I just got back from CC, the whole thing worked. I was wondering if anyone has gotten a rebate back from CC after doing a price match, because on the rebate it says they might change the amount or void it if a price match is issued. However everything went smoothly and i got the full 10% off b/c of the price match so i only had to pay $22.50, which means i will make $12.50 on the purchase. Good job with this post!!!! :bigok:

You misread the disclaimer about what the price match applies to... It means that Circuit City doesn't match rebates... I worked there for three years so I know that.

Just bring an ad up to the customer service and they can do a price match for you... No need for managers or anything.

Not In Stock

I ran into the "not in stock" problem. CC called up OD and said they didnt have it in stock so i couldnt get the price match :( Guess I have to try again later

I went to the local Office Depot this evening and picked up
the ad with the sale price.

The Circuity City is only across the road, so I went in with
the ad. I asked a salesman if CC would price match it.
He didn't know. He asked the MOD and she said sure.
I paid with cash. The final total was $24.95(same as OD's
sale price, plus local sales tax, but no 10% of the price
difference...) And the rebates printed without any
problems.

I guess I just got lucky? Now all I'll have to do is submit
the rebate and see what happens. I doubt I'll have any
trouble with that, since no where on the rebate does it say
pricematching not allowed.

Thanks, Spoofee! :)
