Home Depot has a great sale price on the Memorex Progressive Scan DVD Player. Use this special price to get a pricematch at Sears and take advantage of Sears' rebate and coupon.

1. Purchase this Memorex DVD Player from Sears and choose to pickup in-store ( Price : $46.99)
2. Home Depot has this same unit for $29.00. Print out Home Depot's website ( Click here and search MVD2042 )
3. Print $5 off $25 coupon for Sears.
4. When you pick up, show the customer service that Home Depot has the same unit for $29 and you want to price match.
5. Apply $5 off $25 coupon ( some managers may not accept )
6. Rebate Price : -$10.00
Final Price : $14.00 ( if you can get coupon to work ) or $19.00

For $29 it seems like a good deal. How is this DVD player? Anyone have one??

Its just too bad that you can't choose to pick up the DVD player at Home Depot to save on shipping. Its not worth my time to drive to Sears and find out whether or not they will match it and accept the coupon. Now if Sears was closer than to me than Home Depot, that'd be another story. ;)

I called the Sears store electroics department and spoke to a Sales associate.
She said that was all ok. So i got her name and told her I would be in to see her . She said great see you when you get here! So I'm getting 2 one for extra room and one for a cheap gift!

YEA! :claps:

These are all over ebay, selling with no reserve for less than $5. I guess it is still cheaper this way since people charge so much for shipping through ebay. But my guess is they aren't all that good.

Good Deal!!!

YIPPEEEE!!!! No problem - no questions - got the price match and also their guarantee of 10% of the difference in price (which came to 1.80) AND the 5.00 certificate for using their charge card. Bottom line it cost me 23.75 and I have my $10.00 rebate all ready to go.

As far as them being all over Ebay for 5.00 - you need to check the completed items to see that they aren't selling for 5.00 - maybe listed for that but then after the final price, like you said, you still have the shipping cost - and in many cases they are not brand new, in-the-box.

I'm thrilled. Thanks for the great deal!!!!!!!!!! :10:

Maybe I'm missing something, but where is the coupon?

Well

the auctions I was looking at this morning all had less than 10 minutes to go and the highest bid for one was going for $5. I checked out the top 4 auctions and they were not the same person and they were no reserve.

I don't have a dog in this fight, I was just mentioning what I saw. Good on all of you for getting a good deal!

it's not in the original post here. it's on the front page...
Sears $5 off $25 coupon

Just updated Spoofee's post to add the coupon link...hope he doesn't mind

My aunt went to the Sears at the Del Amo Mall in Los Angeles with the $5 off $25 coupon, the print out of the HomeDepot.com page showing the $29.99 price, and her $10 rebate coupon. I'd called the store yesterday and the salesperson I spoke with assured me that they would match the Home Depot price of $29.99, I could use the coupon, and I would also be eligible for the $10 rebate.

When my aunt got to the store today to pick up the unit, the sales clerk told her Sears did not have to match the HomeDepot price because their price match policy only extends to brick and mortar competitors not internet competitors (and that the in-store price for the unit at Home Depot was $49.99). He also told her she couldn't use the $5 off $25 coupon because it was a 'copy' which was expressly prohibited in the terms on the coupon.

Needless to say - she became flustered and she did not want to get into an argument with the salesclerk. She probably should have walked out without buying it. But, she thought that, even at $46.99 less a $10 rebate, it's still a decent (although unspectacular) price for a low end DVD player.

Sears price matching policy stinks. I went today and picked up the DVD player and then went and price matched it. Well after waiting 45 mins for the managers to make up there minds and debating with them about the PM, they did the $29 on HD's site, but they added in $6.89 shipping... So they only PMed 46.99 - 35.89 = $11.10 Difference... You add in there 110% policy and it came to 12.12 (they screwed up on the math.. It should be 12.21.. I corrected them twice but they choose not to listen.) So the total was 46.99 - 12.12 = $34.87 after the rebate it'll be $24.87... All this was not including tax.

Thanks!!!

This worked like a champ. Including the 110% pricematch guarantee. So once the rebate comes, it will be less than $14.00!!!!

The unit itself is EXCELLENT, it plays even the difficult DVD-R's and DVD+R's.

Well worth the investment, even up to $30........ :)

it worked!

I tried it here in Montcalir, CA. Needless to say, it worked for me with no problems. :D The $10 rebate printed right after my receipt, not only that, a copy of the receipt was printed as well! No need for making a copy! :claps:

so to recap:

price match of $29.00 minus $1.80 for the 10% difference - $5.00 coupon - $10.00 mail in rebate= Grand total of $13.92

All went well for me. Got mine easy as pie! Manager was great! He was even going to get one for himself. I think it helped that I called ahead and spoke to another manager of the electronics department to verify before I went. I know how those sales associates get confused. I wrote her name down and had it with the paperwork. Now if that had not worked when I called I would have kept calling all the stores with in my reach until I got one. Somtimes I found that is best. Less hassle! Good luck to all!

i picked up the last one in the store tonight and had problems with the sales asscociate to match the online price of home depot. finally he gave in but refused to give me my rebate form. ill pay them a visit later this week with the $5.00 off and ask them to sign my rebate form...

Well, it works in San Bruno, CA Sears at Tanforan Mall too.

Called ahead and spoke to a sales associate and got his name before I went, just after reading a few bad scenarios earlier. Priced-matched, couponed, and got the rebate.

So for me it was:
46.99 - 17.00 (price match) - 1.70 (10%) - 5.00 (coupon) = 23.29 + 1.92 (damn you 8.25% CA tax!) = $25.21 total

Guy even said, "Damn, you're getting this for free basically." Plus nabbed the last one too. All smiles in San Francisco too. :D

Edit: Yikes, just did the math myself... they screwed me out of 10 cents! 10% of the difference came to $1.799 = $1.80... not $1.70 like it says on my receipt. Bastards! LOL

To get that $5 coupon you're supposed to use a Sears Premiere credit card and to get that card you have to send $600 a year at Sears to qualify...you may bet someone to honor it if they don't read the fine print.

has anyone used the "progressive" function on the DVD player?
doesnt seem like much difference on my toshiba. its 5 years old though.

any HD TV users out there?

Luv my new DVD player...

No problem getting a total of six players at my local Sears Store.

Price matched to $29.00, then gave 10% discount of the difference between two prices ($1.80), $5.00 off $25 coupon, total of $13.75 each (after $10.00 rebate). :D

Managers were great to deal with, and happy to ring each separate so I could use a $5.00 coupon on each purchase. :claps:

I'm keeping one, then the rest will be great gifts. ;)

Thanks for the posting!!! :42:
