Buying a suit at a retail store at last second can cost you a fortune. When you rent a suit, you have to worry about damaging it or losing it. Here's the cheapest way to buy a suit (that we can find).

1. Go to any local suit store and have yourself measured.
2. Come home and click here to go to eBay.
3. Search "[your size] suit" ( For Example : "40R suit" )

You will find many suits / some major brand names for extremely cheap. Thanks to Derrick W. for the deal!

Note : Please read comments regarding alterations.

This is idiotic. How many times have you purchased a suit and had absolutely no need for alterations? Most people don't even have two arms that are exactly the same length. I buy and sell plenty of stuff on eBay but I don't want to wear some guy's crotch-sweated slacks.

Sorry, did not put alterations into consideration. Prices I know are Nordstrom Racks will do it for $10.00, Burlington Coat Factory will do it for $14.

I didn't mean to be overly harsh on my post but I did consider alterations. There are still a couple problems. If the suit has already been altered (as most used suits are) then it may not be possible to further alter the suit. For example, let's say the seller has short arms (or legs) and you have long arms or legs. You can't solve that problem. On the other hand, if you have short arms and legs then you might be OK. Also, if you are husky and need to have the back let out you will have sew markings on the back of your suit where the previous guy had the seams at.

Plus, you still have the problem of wearing someone else's sweat-stained clothes.

If you are really desparate to wear someone else's clothing, go to the Goodwill store and at least you can try on the suit and see if you can wear it without alterations. My wife buys kids clothes at Goodwill because kids grow up so fast you can get some very lightly worn clothes for your kids at very good prices.

Thanks for letting me throw in my 2 cents worth. (By the way, Nordstrom Rack rocks!... and the cheap alterations applies for clothing purchased there.)

Well jdurbin, you could aways go and buy new on ebay, which would solve the problem of "sweat-stained" clothes.

My eBay habit is bad enough as it is, thank you very much. ;-)

I couldn't imagine buying a used suit that could possibly already been altered, ridiculous.

'Spoofee' is just trying to get liquidate all of his 40R suits on ebay ;-)

I will admit though, I bought my tux for prom off of ebay and it came in as described and fitted almost perfectly. I did spend about $60 for it though.

Lets face it, Most are regular size. Me 6'1" 230. Both arms are the same, both legs are the same.
The idea is a cheap price on a suit that is not worn often, We are all cheap or we would not be here.:)~

I work for three thrift shops, we have plenty of nice suits cheaper than that & you can try them on in the store.
