If you want a 17" laptop, this is a Good Deal! :bigok:
Macs are really nice laptops, and you can run Windows on them too. They come with a lot of useful software, built in webcam, 802.11n (with update). Compare to a PC laptop with these specs and you'll see this is a really good deal.

Previous Generation MacBook Pro

Just a note, this is the previous generation that has a Core Duo processor, not the newer Core 2 Duo processor. The Core 2 Duo is a more desireable processor, and it lists for $2,799. This model is available at a discount at various stores for around $1,999. This is a good deal, but should be understood for what it is - previous generation at a discount.

Looking for my first Apple computer

Looking for my first Apple computer - would like a laptop - I like the 14" screens- What the best deal out there? Thanks Ron:wave:

Good Mac Laptop

Well, depending on your needs, a "low end" MacBook might be all you need, and they are available as Apple Refurbs from time to time for between $800-1,000, depending on exact configuration. They are about $300 more new.

The main difference between the MacBook and MacBook Pro is the various screen sized (MacBook Pro comes in 15 and 17 inch screen sizes, MacBook only 13 inch screen size), graphics card (the MacBook Pro has a discrete video adapter, the MacBook has an embedded adapter that shares system memory). Unless you have demanding needs, I'd seriously consider the MacBook series of laptops, esp. as a refurbished unit...
