If you have seen the movie you know who mimzy is! The last mimzy was an outstanding movie that deepened my 7 year old daughter's LOVE of bunnies. She has loved bunnies since she was a baby, it's odd really, none of my other children have a real love of anything like this, except my 3 year old in my avatar, now she LOVES to goof off, LOL! ANYWAY, I am looking for a Mimzy bunny, I don't care if it talks, but they are selling 14 inch versions of him on ebay, that talk and are poseable, but they only made 2000 of them, so they are $150! This sort of reminds me of the Microsoft Barney craze years ago when my 11 year old liked Barney, and yes I bought a Barney, UGH! Although with 4 kids around, I can't be spending $150 on a mimzy, as much as I would like to!! Anyone have any clever ideas that could score a mimzy without me having to sell a kidney or something? LOL

I am hoping someone out there had the same dillemma as me and has a cheap solution!?

The only Mimzy doll I know about is a limited edition collectible so getting one cheap is probably not going to happen. (I hate when companies do that! Its a kids movie!)

What about making one yourself or having someone crafty make one? Craft stores always have sales, and even the demon store (in my opinion) Walmart has a decent priced craft section.
Here's a knitted bunny pattern that can be altered to make look more like Mimzy.

Or one using fabric: (again, simple details can be changed to make it look like Mimzy.)

There are tons of other patterns out there, you can do a google search or look in a pattern book in the library.

good luck!

I am not a very talented when it comes to sewing, but I am almost willing to try for my daughter. I know they only made 2000 of the Tonner mimzy dolls, which is absolutely insane kind of idiotic, LOL! They definitely did NOT have children in mind when making them, did they? It's a real shame they didn't make more than that, I know my daughter would take such good care of it, but $150 for a plush rabbit? I think NOT! LOL! I just think it would send the wrong message as well to my daughter, I won't buy toys that people are obviously listing on ebay for WAY more than they are worth because some GRINCH wants to make money off of parents who will drop a load for the most popular toy for Christmas, that's not what it's about to me. I want this to be something special for her. A cheap gift idea that I have that will mean so much to my kids for years to come is I found some larger jingle type bells at wal-mart, the type in Polar Express, I am going to paint their names on them and wrap them, they will absolutely LOVE them! Only $12.00 total for all 4 bells and paint, and it means so much more than your run of the mill buy and wrap toy off the shelf. I really want to get a mimzy for her though, I think I might try to make one, thanks so much!!

I feel your pain. It all started with the cabbage patch dolls. It's been a trend ever since. My sister went through this with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, I went through this in the late 80's with my son. He wanted all the Power Rangers. Good Luck, but I'd warn against a do it your self. (unless your kids are too small to know the difference)

I remember the power rangers thing, I really think the Cabbage Patch Kids started all this mess! I have e-mailed every doll shop on the east coast, they tell me these mimzy bunnies have been sold out for months, there is a less expensive one for 24.99 for kids, but of course there was only a limited number of those made too, I have emailed Tonner, the maker of them, to see if they still have just one, if not I am shooting off an email to them, that's insane for them to get the license to make the bunny then make it some rediculous media hype thing and only create so many of them, I am not usually very negative but WHAT CRAP! I wouldn't be so upset if my daughter didn't absolutely love, and I mean LOVE bunnies! She dressed up as a bunny for career day, she dressed up as a bunny for halloween, she has every kind of bunny stuffed animal, lamp, toy that you can imagine, she has bunny pictures bunny slippers bunny clothes and even a bunny hat with ears, bunny ears too, at least 20 different pairs, this kid LOVES bunnies, for the life of me I have never figured out why, but I want a mimzy bunny, although I refuse to pay some hyped up price because only so many of them were made, I am gonna figure out who would have given Tonner the license to make the toy too, they need a rude awakening! Makes me so mad.......grumble grumble grumble

As a parent this is one of my biggest pet peeves. Companies trying to make a fortune off the desires/wants of children. I've never been able to figure out why they don't realize they could sell more if they were available for a reasonable cost.
Of course parents are to blame as well in this circle, because if they wouldn't buy the high cost toys, then there wouldn't be a market for them. But as long as someone is willing to pay the cost it will continue.

I totally agree, this is exactly why I won't pay one penny more, (unless it is shipping) for this toy. It just upsets me that a company would get a license to make a toy then pull something like this, they weren't going to make a ton of money anyway, the only real profit now is for the people who have them that are charging 3 times what they are worth!:banghead:

Woooohooooo I just pre-ordered Mimzy, she will be shipped around December 10th, and I got her at 24.99, WAYYY cool!! If yall want one of these adorable critters you can call and reserve at 800 794 2107

I only ordered one, so I won't be hocking these on ebay for some rediculous price! I am so happy, this will mean so much to my 7 year old who wants to be a BUNNY farmer when she grows up, as long as it has nothing to do with Hugh Heffner we will be happy, LOL!!

Yea! "Who's the Mom? Who's the Mom?":marshmallow:

But seriously, if I were you I WOULD have "hocked" at least one! You could have at the very least paid for the cost of the one you're keeping! I looked around after I read your post and they were $125 everywhere. Even if you only made $30-$40! Call them back! Change your order!!!! :)

LOL, I would but I spent the extra time searching for this special bunny because I don't condone practices like selling them for extra cash, I know it is a huge profit but I have seen this happen every year since Cabbage Patch dolls, thank goodness ebay has taken some of the biting, scratching and hair pulling out of it, LOL! But I wouldn't have bought it for her if it cost anything more than Tonner had it originally priced at because I remember a few years when the kids wanted that extra special toy, and someone out there had it, only it was at three times the price, tickle me elmo, furreal friends, etc. and I never would buy that toy because I would rather them eat the loss of buying 5 too many! I know if it weren't me, it would be someone else, well I'll let karma bite them in the hiney, LOL! I am just happy to have gotten it at the original price for her! Now, let's commence dancing....

Who's da mommy, who's da mommy, it's my bday, and christmas, LOL!
