How about 10 % off Rolls Royces. I'll sign up for that too. This is like Bush's economic plans. "We will give the rich ( who don't need it ) a break so that some scraps trickle down to the working Joes."

$89 for a chain restaurant dinner? surely you jest, even a non chain doesn't cost that much. Don't forget wine.

wait this is no Denny's

yes it's pricey, but Morton's serves good quality stuff. I went there once with wife and bill was over $120. It's not so bad if you don't go there EVERY week.

skip mcD's a few times

As a confirmed tightwad who has eaten at Morton's 4 times, always and only on other people's dime, let me just say:
I would pay $89 of my own hard-earned money for a seafood/filet dinner for 2 there. Well, hubby's hard-earned money...:)
Too bad it's not good at the location in my town.
Morton's may be a chain, but this is *not* the Outback Steak House.

ps. you might want to skip the wine, but do consider trying the coffee with dessert.

one more thing - if you like asparagus, don't choke on the $8 price tag. It's plenty for 2 and absolutely unreal. Like nothing I've ever had from the grocery store!

For those of you who think a good meal is ordering ale cart at taco bell, we would not expect you to understand that going to a resteraunt like this (on occasion) is a treat that makes hard work, worthwhile.

I have been to Morton's several times and aside from the food being very good, the service is great. If you think you can beat this with your own cooking or your local Lone Star or Outback, you should go back to taco bell and pick up that steak taco and consider yourself "ahead of the game".

I don't eat at TB. But have been known to take the money I would use on a dinner like that & buy food at Trader Joes. That would feed me for about 3 weeks.

Yes, sometimes I take someone to a fancy restaurant nearby. A five course meal with wine for two is about $100-150.00

I am a Mortons fan too!

I cashed in enough points from my amex to get a $100 gift card. We recently went to the one in Philadelphia.
2 adults and a child ordered the $84 porterhouse which was like the toilets in the movie Elf (GINORMOUS).
We spent with tip including drinks $184.
It was better than Ruth Chris' and we will go back again!

Dont give me that BS , there are some of us who think money can be spent much better than gratifing ourselves in an expensive place which makes like a 1000% profit on stuff.

If you actually think your superior and that your "ahead of the game" because your paying that much and have convinced yourself that its like 10X better than well i have nothign to say to you.

Morton is over price and over rated..rather spent my money at Ruth Chris. My wife and I ordered medium rare steak and our steak came out burnt. The check came out to be $175...

Resturants like this are ok for special occasions like anniversaries, etc.

why is there so much negative energy in here regarding how people want to spend their money? people like to splurge in different ways... some people will buy a 500gb hard drive, others will buy a "nice" dinner (however they choose to define it), and others will buy houseware, kitchenware, clothes, etc...

i'm glad to see this deal posted so that there's diversity in the types of deals posted (unlike a lot of other sites that are very tech-heavy), and the people who choose to patronize morton's will get more for their money, which i believe is the main premise of this site

Mortons

A few thoughts on Morton's and prior arguments as to whether or not it is "worth" it...

Morton's is a chain, however they deal with primarily small, privately owned growers and ranchers to obtain the high quality meats and produce. Local growers are also often used for the produce.

The prime steaks that they serve are a grade reserved for only about the top 2% of cuts due to the superior marbeling of the fat.

Percentage wise, their markups are not that different from a fast food chain. Mass production of heavily processed ingredients bought in unbelievably huge quantites gets the McDonald's of the world very low costs on their ingredients.

Eating cheap is not helping anyone. Not your body, not the minimum wage employees that made your food, and not the growers that are bullied by corporate giants into providing cheap raw materials.

As far as steak chains go, Morton's is probably the best.

dayum, $50 for one?

And before you jump on me, I'm not comparing this to McDonalds or Taco Bell, I understand that this'd probably be for a "special occasion" type meal, but the price still seems high to me.

Then again, considering you're getting 2 filets and two seafood choices, I guess it's (somewhat) reasonable.
