Motorola 5.8GHz Cordless Speakerphone /w Caller ID for $34.88 Shipped After Rebate

Amazon has a great price on the Motorola MD671 5.8GHz Digital Expandable Cordless Phone. This phone has a 4/5 review from 42 Amazon users.

Note : There is also a version with an answering machine for $15 more here.

Pricegrabber Price : $78~161 Shipped

1. Amazon Price : $64.88
2. Rebate Price : -$30.00
Final Price : $34.88

This is a fantastic price, I almost went for this one last time as I need an expandable system and this fits all the features I want perfectly.

Only problem is, for some reason the MD61 expansion handset for this has mysteriously disappeared from all online retailers. Anyone have any idea what's going on? This is a 5.8 model, so I don't think it has been discontinued, but I'm puzzled. I looked at buying this phone from Amazon when it was $60 or so, and the expansion handsets were available anywhere then.

I can't buy this without a fairly decent price on the expansion.. anyone have a clue?

Addendum:

per the CSR Patricio at Motorola at 1-866-BUY-MOTO

the MD61 expansion phone has been discontinued and there are no plans to make more. The MD61 is the only expansion phone available for the MD671, there are no other expansion phones for this cordless phone model.

I'm not sure why the stores above are saying the MD61 is not available until May 2005, because this expansion phone no longer being made by Motorola.

That said, still a great price for the MD671, as long as you don't need an expansion phone :)

i bought the 681 last week. do they use the same expansion handsets? if so, i'm out of luck.....

I just want everyone to be aware that this sytem does not have an ANSWERING MACHINE.

right. the 671 has no answering machine where as the 681 has 3 individual mailboxes. the 681 also at amazon, but for $50AR...! been using mine for 1 day and love it. the handset also has a built-in speakerphone system. how cool is that?! sounds and feels great with many, many customizable features....

FYI, after a day of use of the 681 model. my friends have been telling me that on their end, they hear my voice clear and loud enough (still less than my 900mhz sony that died), but my pitch seems lower than real or sounds like i'm speaking through a surgical mask....

not a problem for the owners of the phone, but the other party might be slightly inconvenienced.... just FYI to consider.

This looks like a great price, I just don't like the looks of this phone. I want another killer Panasonic deal. There is something about those phones that I like a lot.

I did some research and if you like this phone, you can still get the MD61 handset for $69 at http://store.yahoo.com/phonemerchants/momdon58ghzc2.html
There is also a $10 rebate for this, which will make it $59
rebate for MD61 - http://www.jr.com/images/pdf/rebates/MOT2_20050630.pdf

so basicaly you will get a system with one extra handset for $34.88+59 = 93.88

not a bad deal, if you are ok with not having an answering machine

I can ask my sister to buy the 2nd MD671, but can its handset work with my base station? If it can, I'll just cost me ~ $70 for the system with extra handset.

The problem with using the handset from her MD671 is that you have no charger base for it, so both would have to charge from the original unit.

and for those who don't mind completing a review for PriceGrabber, there's a $5 rebate available
This $5 rebate is only for expandable handset MD61, not for this base unit. Am I right?

If I could even find an MD61 at any price, that would be nice.

You are right, it's for the MD61 Cordless Accessory Handset (5.8GHz, Caller ID, Speakerphone)

Here's the one for the MD671 Digital Cordless Telephone (5.8GHz, Caller ID, Speakerphone)

thanks =)
