Most Radio Shack stores have the T5400 for $19.99 and a $15 MIR for a net of $5 per radio. Rebates are good for up to 6 pieces per household.

Good deal. It looks like the rebate is only available in the stores, so I'll have to go out to pick some up. That's a lot better than the other deal for two Motorola radios for $25 at Amazon. I'm not sure the differences between the models but I'm sure they're similar. There's a RadioShack in the next town over so when I get my lazy self up I'll go get some. Thanks for the deal. :)

Edit: Also, thanks for joining Spoofee and posting. :D

Just curious, do these require any carriers for them to work ? Will they work in the UK for instance ?

FRS in the UK

These radios, the FRS radios sold in the USA, are not for use outside of the USA.

While they are meant to be point to point, ie peer to peer, they are on a frequency that is authorized for this use in the USA.

For the UK and Europe there is a simiar service, but the operating frequencies and rules are different.

The bottom line: buy this type of radio in the country where it is going to be used to be most legal.

Hmmm... I see your point concerning the legal aspect but, they will work anywhere on this planet as long as they have batteries!
While exploring the nature (mountains for ex.) is beautifull it's always good to have some comunication device handy... even though it might interfere with some "reserved" radio frequencies! ;)

Where is the rebate???

Good question.

The rebate prints out with the sales slip. You need to purchase each radio individually to get the rebate for it.

Is this rebate only valid at Radioshack :?:
Incidentally I picked up a pair at RadioShack and then saw it at WalMart for $14 :!: They do not print out a rebate receipt, so can we download it from anywhere. Checked the rebate page at motorola but they do not have a downloadable form.

Rebate Prints on the sales slip.

I suppose if the rebate prints on the sales slip, it must be a Radio Shack sponsored rebate. Did you check Radio Shacks rebate page?

http://www.radioshack.com/Partners/Rebate/RebateLanding.asp?ln=rebate

I don't see this particular deal listed.

I checked the motorola site that got printed on my radioshack rebate receipt (http://www.motorola.com/rebates/frs5420). There is no mention of this particular model.

The rebate also needs to be sent to motorola and not radio shack.
Thats why I figured I could maybe pick it up from walmart (which I did incidently) and make the deal a bit hotter.

I guess I'll speak to Motorola customer support and update this thread on what they say.
