What does everyone think about these mystery shopper websites. It only costs $30 and they guarantee your money back within 3 months if your not satisfied. Has anyone tried these? Any advice? The one I'm looking at would be Myster Shopper Network.

Drewski,

Don't pay to join one of those sites. Do go for Shop'n Chek though! I've been with them for over two years now. I've taken my wife on dates to some yummy fast food restaurants and also paid for her prescription glasses. I also get to do some auditing work for them where it isn't like a normal 'shop', but I get paid to go and ensure that prices on the shelves are the same as prices that ring up on the registers. After all is said and done, I average about $20-25 per hour for doing this.

I can't say enough good things about Shop'n Chek! They will even deposit directly into your bank account if you like. You get paid at the end of the following month of your shop.

If you have any other questions, let me know.

So I guess their application process really is worth it. ;)

Do they also reimburse you for the meals and shopping etc.?

Yup it is. As far as reimbursement for meals, here's how it works:

You select a 'shop' and go to it. (Note that at this point, Shop'n Chek will tell you how much money you'll get for the shop...let's say $16.00)
You purchase the meal while noting how long it takes the employee to acknowledge you, how long it takes your food to arrive, etc.
You submit a report with the information noted and include a copy of your receipt.

Shop'n Chek reimburses you $16.00 whether you actually spent that much money or not. So if you spend $7.00, you had a free meal plus an extra $9.00 to boot. If you spend $21.00, then you had a $21 meal for $5.

From past experiences if you have to pay to get a job it's not worth it. As someone else posted it is probably a scam.

The one you have to pay for is being advertized on the Radio in different citys. I belong to a yahoo group that chats about saving money and many new member have been asking the same question.

I've been doing mystery shopping to earn a little extra spending cash for about 6 months now. The sites I've joined are all FREE to join, and I have had no problems with recieving payment, or otherwise. The three that I've had the most luck with are:

Maritz Research

ICCDS

Secret Shopper. Net

Last month, I picked up a job that was way out in no-mans-land. Apparently nobody wanted to take the job due to it's remote location. I spent all of 1 hour between the actual shop and the evaluation, and another 1 1/2 hours in travel time, and they paid me $160 plus reimbursed me for a gallon of gas and a candy bar that I had to purchase as part of the shop. Just in time for Christmas Shopping!

I was just checking out secretshopper, are you paid for these with this company, or only reimbursed what you are told to spend?

thanks!

Burger King

I just signed into ICCDS and 10 min. later I get a phone call to do Burger King

I've only completed one shop with SecretShopper.net, mainly because they don't offer a lot in my area. The one I did complete was a telephone call to a business. It took me 10 minutes and another 15 to fill out the survey. I got paid $9 for it. Several they have offered me have been reimbursement only, meaning you only get reimbursed for your purchase, but not paid anything additional. I declined those. A couple of other offers they have had were bank shops. You go in, pretend you're interested in opening an account, etc. Those pay $15 I think. When you get accepted, you are able to pick and choose which shops you want to do. That's why I signed up with several different companies.

Wow! That's quick! I gotta check their site again and see if the BK around me is available. I could go for some chicken fingers!

I just signed up for secret shopper and shop n chek.. Now I will go do ICCDS!!

I got my first assignment from Shop N Chek (thanks Big Daddy) today and also signed up for a health check up on Second to None that pays $40 plus you get the check up free! Shop N Chek is also offering a shop that reimburses you for an oil change and tire rotation, but they're all too far from me to be worth the drive :(

drat- i need both an oil change and tire rotation...
however, the last time i did both at the "jiffy lube", my brakes were metal on metal within 24 hrs... i think it had to do with how they put the tires back on? that really stunk having to replace my brakes right after having shelled out the dough for the other stuff. next time, i'll go to a tire shop to have my tires rotated!!!

if it sounds like what i think they misaligned the tires and bumped a brake pad onto the rotor, which wore it off very quickly, but i bet you had really sensitive brakes for the 24 hrs.

yeah it was awful. i blamed todd for it at first cuz he goes through brakes like i go through licorice :p
then i realized that must've been what it was. i didn't know if i could have proven anything, so we just took care of the brakes. it was the day before we left for disneyland, and i wanted to do the last minute car things i needed to for the road trip. that afternoon, morgan broke her arm so when we drove to the emergency room, that's when i noticed the brakes were bad. todd took care of it while they were operating on morgan's arm- thank goodness he did it before we went on our vacation!!
at any rate, i figure it's just best to go to a tire shop for tire things, and an oil shop for oil things... unless you've got the big bucks and can pay the dealership to fix everything!!

I have received a response from everyone except Shop N Chek. Today while at work, I checked my email and saw where ICCDS sent me a thing to stock perfume at Kmart this Saturday for $10 for one hour. When I came home to sign up for it, it was gone. I guess the need was filled. :(
