need a cheap ass fax machine

It might not be what you're looking for but, I use j2.com to receive faxes for free (which sends your faxes to your email) and a program called Fax Machine 3 to send faxes.
What's nice about the software is that it lets you send a fax from any program by simply going to File>Print and choosing the Fax Machine as your printer. (You of course need a modem). Check out the good reviews from download.com
The software would be your only cost ($25).

Thanks for the suggestion, but my need is to SEND - paper with items circled and signed, etc. I don't want to spend $200 on an all in one injet that I will never use the other part of.
Probably not the most proficient way, but do you have a scanner?
You could scan the document(s) and then use the Fax Machine software to send them. Any bargain scanner would do since you'll be scanning it in b&w at a low resolution. (scanning in b&w and at a low res will scan a page in about 30 secs too).
