Hi,

Looking to get DSL in my home.
Does anyone know of a good DSL provider ,
I'm in southern CA. And what Price range am I looking at. Any thing will help. I checked on the net and Covad, SBC Yahoo, Earthlink so far are available.

Also, If SBC Yahoo quote me speed up to 384Kbps downstream, can another provider be faster.

Thanks

welcome to the world of Broadband

hi

well there are good and bad DSL providers. it all depends on areas. you will have to ask people from your area who have DSL as to how it works etc.. no one can tell better than them.

the prices go around 50-60 bucks a month(most of the time the prices are according to the down/up speed you want). and you should check out for offers coz most of them now provide modem and all necessary hardware for free and free installations etc.. you will have to check out the current offers in your areas.

one big thing to consider before gettign a DSL is checking how far the office/control center of that DSL provider in your ares is from your house.

DSL only works effectively upto a certain amount of distance after that it's quality degrades.

below are some websites where you can find more informations and check availability, prices etc...

well the above link will provide you with loads of info on everything.

hope it helps. feel free to ask anythying you want.

at&t broadband

I have good experience with at&T broadband and I pay 45 dollars a month.

Thanks for your help,

AT&T broadband not available in my area

I went with Covad DSL which is offering $21.95 for first 4 months and then $49.95 for the rest of the year. This is the their Plus package and they said download speed with be up to 1.5Mbps . Also they have a 1 month trial period so I can cancel if I'm not satisfy with their service and only pay for the first month fee. We'll see how it goes

:D
