Netbook.....

I feel like the bad news bear today. I haven't had good experience with Acer laptops as far as the repair shop goes. You really get what you pay for. (Acer, however, makes EXCELLENT monitors.)

If the screen is under 12" it might be too small for an adult, but if you looked at the smaller ones in a store and you're OK with the size, I'd probably consider a Dell. I know these are refurbs, scratch & dents and ordered new, but they come with a full warranty and if you use code R0M2Q2M1VKGQ4B you can get 15% more off. Plus I've had GREAT experiences with Dell refurbs and scratch & dent laptops and desktops.

Like spazzy, I've heard nothing but bad things about Acers. FYI you can also look at netbooks made by Lenovo, HP etc.

Good luck and Happy Birthday to the saint!

So is this one comparable? (As you can see, I really don't know what I am buying and yes, he is a saint. )

It's pretty comparable to the Acer (only better in my opinion). Although if he won't want to be attached to the wall much with the AC adapter, you may want to look for one with at least a 6 cell battery since they will obviously last longer unplugged than the 3 cell battery versions.

So this one has all the acer features (and possibly then some) with a longer battery life? (and yes, he wouldn't be attached to a wall  when he's using the netbook  otherwise,:blushing:.)

Yes. This one also appears to have a better network card too. That's nice of you to unleash him when he's using his netbook.

Just to update.......I tried my best to get him to accept a refurb Dell....but no, against the good advice, he wanted the Acer.

When you're married, it's times like these that you let them have their way, give them what they want against sound advice and put your "I told you so" in your pocket for future use.

Sound advice = worth it's weight in gold
An "I told you so" in your pocket = priceless

Thanks again everyone.

I hope you don't have to use your "I told you so".

BTW what sort of present is that, when you give the recipient options?
