Can you directly wire computers together with this router or does it only do wireless connections. Anyone know ?

stax68- It does RJ45 (wire) and/or wireless. Amazon has it for $62 today, so the final final price is $37 (free shipping & no tax).

I have the 2.4GHz X10 wireless system, baby monitor and a cordless phone in my house. I'm assuming I can't use this router as they would interfere here. Anyone know?

What if you have a 900MHZ phone..would that be ok. Or is it only the 2.4GHz that
cause problems.

Wireless Interference

I've a Netgear router connected to the cable modem (RJ45) + internet fone device (packet8.net) with a Vtech 2.4Ghz cordless base fone #1 (RJ45) + RJ45 to another NIC card of PC#1 + ethernet wireless connection to a PC#2. Another Vtech cordless fone is attached to another room - Everything is fine...

If you have a 900Mhz phone then you dont have to worry about it interfering w/ the wireless 802.11x networks.

If you read the customer reviews on these wireless routers about half say the unit worked like a dream and half say the thing was a nightmare and they sent it back...ahh confusion. Are these things like hit or miss in the manufacture process.

:hmm: The nightmare ones have another possibility other than a bad unit or bad drivers (user error). I saw one guy on Amazon that claimed to be an expert in the field. More times than not those people know enough to be dangeroso. It sounds like this guy messed up the firmware upgrade which can and will render any unit useless. He didn't bother saying if he got another unit and tried it. Read on:

"Firstly I have had my home networked sicne I had ISDN ten years ago. I am quite familiar with all the technical aspects as I have aldso had routers and hardware firewalls for some time.

The firmware on this unit is problematic, the firmware "upgrade" is even worse. Do not bother calling tech support unless you are willing to have someone wo doesn't know a much at all reading off a scripted card insult your intelligence.

To top that off range is quite poor. I would wait til the next generation of this product or for them to work out the many bugs.

It seems like a good price but if you have to spend hours on the phone with bad tech support it wouldn't be worth it if it were free. "

I've gone through the firmware update w/o any problem. Don't know why the Amazon person is crying out loud...

Yea I agree with you. Netgear has some good stuff. I had some issues with drivers from time to time, but they seem to get them corrected soon enough.
