Free - Google IM - Voice very clear

Google has just released their new Google IM program. Download it here @ http://www.google.com/talk/

You have to have a gmail email address to use it. (if you don't have one click here)

Voice very clear

i use skype for voice; it sounds better than my paid voip sometimes! and i use MSN messenger for video without the audio (voice is bad). this combo works great for me.

skype is working on the video side; can't wait until that gets done.

please post quality of gmail talk if you tried it. thanks.

Do we need a mic/headset in order to use the voice function for Google Talk?

I like to use www.video4im.com for video in skype ..works pretty good.

Google talk looks to be interesting nonetheless...can't wait to see where they will take this knowing how anything they touch is golden

Everything Google does, they do well... IMO

I have been playing with this program a little now, and the quality is superb.

Yeap, quality is great, even on 56k, care to share you emails for chat?? :) jk

ummm, it would be ideal, though, some notebooks have built in mic somewhere around on top of the screen, and some webcams have built in mic as well. still, best with headset so there's no feedback problem from speakers, and your voice will sound much clearer because the mic is right in front of your mouth where ever your head might turn.

thanks; great find. didn't even know it existed. have downloaded and just waiting for my friend who has a webcam to try it out. ;)

Just wait a few years, and Google will be bigger than Microsoft (they already are bigger than AOL Time Warner).

Many people I know are already on GMail... many are in the process of switching (from yahoo, hotmail, etc).

I'll wait until Google Talk can do cross-platform with AIM/MSN/Yahoo... and I like the direction they're going into... a universal protocal for messaging instead of proprietary.

:claps: I absolutly love google. Nothing better than google

Google is taking over the world.

I believe gTalk uses voice over ip technology... which is why it's so clear. I was pretty amazed when I tried talking to my friend. She wasn't aware that her mic was on, so I could hear her typing away on the keyboard. heh
