I'm so there. Perfect gift for my niece. Lucky for me I'm only 2 blocks away from the store.

Personally, I dont see the draw to these books or to the movies. I tried to read one and found it to suck royally. The two movies I tried to watch were no different. Maybe I should restate this - I dont see the draw for adults to these books and movies. Kids I can see liking this.

LiveSquid, the whole point is that this kind of book keeps "the kid in you" alive. If you have tried to read the book and not liked it, maybe you should try one of the books on CD. I have all of them as AudioBooks and I really enjoy listening to them. The books are much better than the movies because of course the movie would be about 5 1/2 hours long if it covered the whole book.

**If** you get one of the books on CD, try to get one of the later ones as the person who reads these (Jim Dale) really enhances the story with the very good voices he does as the charecters.

If you choose to think I am a fanatic... well that is a choice you have to live with ;)

Happy reading all, I will be recieving my audiobook on CD Monday from Amazon.com -- thanks to a couple of gift certificates 'ala' Spoofee, for the cost of $9.00!!!

Its ok t001z. I like them too. And I use the word "like" as a huge understatement. It does bring the kid out in you. We will just have to accept that not everyone feels the same way as we do. =)

The first couple of books are definitely geared more towards children. But they are easy reading and very quick to get through. Once you get to the third, fourth, and fifth book they are much more adult. I personally love them all. They jumpstart my imagination and give me a wonderful feeling as though this magical world might exist. It's like going to Disneyland!

I wholeheartly agree! Jim Dale does a great job reading these books! Try a few chapters, I think you'll get hooked.

Plus you can still surf spoofee while listening to them! ;)

bestbuy

Bestbuy will also have the new harry potter book and have not been taking reservations so they should have some available.

I'm going to be at Costco! I wonder if it'll be crowded! If so.. I'm going to Target. lol

Our local high school purchased a whole bunch of these books and got them yesterday. They'll be handing them out to everyone who purchased at Midnight tonight. My wifey will definitely be there and it won't be crowded at all!

Can't beat the Public Library

The library just called and they have two books on hold for my husband and I.

We put in a request for the library to purchase it when they first announced the name and date of its release.

Can't beat reading it for free!

I am happy to pay the $17.99 to have such a wonderful book in my collection which I can read over and over again! YAY!

I have to fight my wife to read the book. So far, we're both about chapter 6 and there are a few surprises.
