Can anyone tell me a bit about this panel! Is it worth joining
would really appreciate .

I can let you know in a few weeks. They called me today and are sending the scanner out for me to start. From what I understand so far, you scan all your purchases upc codes and then transmit them once a week. You are compenstated w/points that can be exchanged for merchandise. The person on the phone told me "honestly it takes 3-4 months to get enough points for anything good"-but I don't know what her definition of good is and I can't access the catalog until I get my membership. I figure I'll try it and see. Don't have anything to lose and they don't make you sign a contract so I can quit at any time if I decide it isn't worth the bother.

Good luck!

thank u so much .I also received an email from them .have done a bit of research this is wat I got
Im a member of homescan and the online thing also. I signed up on another site (cant remember which one) around may of 2005. I then totally forgot all about it and about 3 months later the ups man knocks on my door with the scanner. I looked it over and set it all up a couple days later. I really like it alot, it is very easy to do once you get the hang of it. Altogether each week with the scanning and transmitting(once a week) what I bought, and checking for surveys it is about 20 minutes. You get 1000 points when you first register and points each week that you transmit. Surveys occasionally come up depending on what you might buy and you get pretty good points for them also. You get 350 bonus points monthly for scanning once a week in each month. You also get 1500 bonus points on your first month(i think), third month, sixth month and year anniversaries and yearly afterwards. Cant remember the point system completely right now but your point totals that you get each week for scanning goes up after you have been with them certain amounts of times. I also receive lots of free things from them. Ive gotten a keychain, plastic coffee mug, refrigerator magnet, a nice pen(doesnt always work too well) and something else, wonder what ill get next? There is also lots of chances weekly, monthly and yearly to win cash and prizes like cash and quarterly a car or vacations. After I was with them for a few months I got an invite from the homescan members website to join the homescan online website also. You get 2000 points added when you first join that and every six months you get 1000 points plus chances to win money also, which are better chances because there is not as many people doing that. All in all I really love doing it because it is simple and takes hardly any time or effort on my part. I know this was long but im done rambling on right now

cybermom was right.. I have been in this for over a year. You scan everything you buy and submit it every week. You earn points to get things from a catalog. There are some very nice things in it. Things like a Ipod nano.. sweepers.. flat screen analog tv...many things worth while. You can also download a program that tracks your web habits for points. Very easy to do.

I was a member for awhile. I personally didn't think it was worth the effort for the points I was getting, but I shop for a family of five so ...

I probably would have kept doing it if I didn't have to scan so much stuff. After grocery shopping with the kids under seven, I'm just to worn out to scan everything again.

I got an invite today an was hoping someone could tell me if the scanner was a hand held battery operated thing or something you have to take up space with @ home?? What kind of stuff did you earn and how long did it take you to earn it??

Thanks,
lisa

can anyone give an example of points to prizes ratio?

If you know so much about them, why even ask this question? Looks like you have already joined.

just bumping to see if I can get some answers. :teeth:

wondering what the scanner is like and what the items you can earn are like.

I just started this about 2 weeks ago. The scanner is just a little handheld thing. It has a charge/stand that plugs into an ac outlet much like a cordless phone. They say to keep in there and plugged in, but I don't.

It takes a little more time to scan then I though, but I'm getting quicker. The extra time comes because you also have to enter if you used a coupon or if the item was on sale for each scan. The actual transmission once a week takes almost no time.

I haven't sat down yet to get a price to points comparison with the prizes. It does look like it will take 6 months or so to get anything 1/2 way decent. As the points accumulate though, there are some good offers. My plan is to save them all up until next Christmas and spend them then. :)

I'm going away for a week starting this afternoon, but when I come back if someone hasn't already I'll give you some prize/how long ideas.

I just got my invite today! I got a call and he verified all my info..I can't wait to get started! Like some of you said..I'll keep the points going til Christmas and spend them then!

That is a very good idea and I just might do that. I was getting ready to send it back to them. It takes so much time to scan everything and I have to write down every coupon I use. Sometimes I use to 40-50 coupons in one trip. I also have to keep up with whats on sale and how much of a sale it is. When you are shopping with a 21mth old it is kind of hard to keep up with all of that. I tried scanning it in the store but I was there for four hours!

They do have some great prizes but you need so many points to get anything good that I have been wondering if it is worth all the time,

How do you get an invitation? Sounds like fun and interesting...

I just got an invite today out of the blue. I've been a member of PineCone for almost 2 years now and e-rewards, so maybe they got my contact info from one of those places.

I did it for over a year and if I'd of realized how little reward there was for the amount of hassle I never would of done it. Took me that long to get enough points to get a fry daddy which is a nice one but not worth close to a year and a half work. I scanned every item and was faithful in sending in my weekly transmissions so got the monthly bonuses for doing that. I did every survey and twice had to go through and scan all the stores in our area and transmit that also which was a very big time consuming job. I did the weekly diary for cosmetics also. So several times a week I was doing something for them. I received a $3 reading light for my umm what 1st month anniversary with them or 3 month not sure and got a very thin little blanket for my 6 month anniversary and received nothing for my year anniversary which I thought was strange. Where you shop does make a difference in how much work scanning your items ends up being. Albertsons and brookshires grocery stores I didn't have to put the price of each item as well as how many I bought, if they were on sale if I had a coupon. Shopping at walmart for groceries was a nightmare as I did have to scan everything and put in the price I paid for each item :ohwell: I would never ever recommend doing this unless you are totally bored and feel like working for parts of pennies.

Thanks Stardreamer... I got an invite in my Hotmail and bellsouth email account. I think I'll pass on this one!

Bumping this! I just got an e-mail invite...still not sure about it though. Anyone have any updates on homescan?

I was thinking about doing this myself but decided against it. If you read the post above from Stardreamer7880 you will see why. I also did a little investigating myself and found many others who said just about the same thing, not worth the time and trouble for what you earn.
