Has anyone tested this new console, its not going to be released til Nov 16th
-but wondering if anyone has tried it out yet?

My husband thinks the "kids" need this for Christmas.

i think I need this for christmas. I'm quite a Nintendo nyerd.. I can't wait till it comes out. Sorry, I have not tried it, but I have seen people testing it and it looks fun! It looks like you get really active because the new controller is motion sensative.

What is the Wii? It is not the PS3, is that right?

Nope, the PS3 is a game console from Sony. The Wii is a game Console from Nintendo. They are the same idea though (i know that is arguable). =)

okay I get it now. I'm assuming that it will have it's own platform of games, and the gamecube games will not work on the Wii?..
sorry for all the ????'s
is this thing going to be as big a craze as the xbox 360

You know, I think they are saying its backwards compatible. Usually they do that for all systems ( for nintendo anyways). I remember reading that the new Wii will accept the smaller Gamecube disc games. Of course, now I can't find the article.

Yes, that what my husband was saying that you can download old games from the old consoles.

Here's what I read on amazon....

"Wii also offers superb backward compatibility -- the cornerstone of Nintendo's all-access approach. This new console will play fan-favorite games from Nintendo's 20-year-old library. The drive is compatible with GameCube discs, and select Nintendo titles from the original NES of the 1980s all the way through the Nintendo 64 will be available through for download through the "Virtual Console" for $5 and $10 respectively. "

I never played it myself either, but planning to line up in November.

Looks like I can get a good workout out of this.

Yup, you will be able to download old nes,snes,n64,sega games for the Wii. Prices will range from $5-$25 per game. I bet someone will probably figure out how to put 'roms' on the Wii so you won't have to pay the old games :bigok:

Anyways, one of the selling points is the unconfirmed price of the Wii around $250 rather then about $550 for the ps3.
