Nominees for "Stupidest Human Stunt of the Year" award
I have to nominate myself.
Wednesday, while working, I climbed three steps up a stepladder to drill a hole in a steel panel. When I finished, I came down one step, thought I was on the bottom step, and stepped off the ladder, right foot first. Instead of a 6" step, I found an 18" step, hit the steel floor with my full weight on a locked-straight knee.
As I type this, I'm sitting in a recliner with a demobilizing brace on my right leg and pain meds floating in my bloodstream. The top of my tibia (shinbone) is in 2 or 3 pieces and the state of my ACL is in question, the swelling being too great for a diagnosis.
I have an appointment with a orthopaedic surgeon on Monday afternoon. I know there will be at least one surgery, to install plates and screws to hold the tibia together. Ligament surgery may well be in my future as well.
All I can say is :argh::rant::nonod::ack: WHAT A DUMBA$$!
