Yes, but under that it said, "Thank You. Your submission has been received." However, it was the same page I just filled out, so who knows.

Subject: G.O. Ministries Kroger Gift Card Information…

Thank you for your recent submission of a web form requesting a $5 G.O. Ministries Kroger Gift card.

We apologize for any glitches you may have endured to submit your form. We are in the midst of updating our official webpage. Part of the maintenance “to do” was repairing this web form link G.O. Ministries :: Great Opportunities in Global Outreach We have been in between webmasters so that task has proven difficult. In the mean-time a valued volunteer built gohelphaiti.org so that we could quickly communicate our response to the crisis in Haiti. In addition he built us the functioning link Yes, please send me a G.O. Ministries Kroger Gift Card! | gohelphaiti.org until our main site was updated which is how you were able to request a card from us.

G.O. Ministries is a 501(c)3 non-profit, Christian non-denominational organization that serves the people of the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Colombia, Mongolia and the inner city of West Louisville, Kentucky. Our work is motivated by our Christian worldview but we do not require those who benefit from our services to share it. See how we’re ranked among other non-profits here: Charity Navigator Rating - G.O. Ministries

Our ability to make a difference through education, nutrition centers, medical clinics, sports outreach, relief work and church establishment is based on our ability to raise the money to help fund these efforts. The Kroger Gift Card program seemed a great way to supplement funds as everyone buys groceries and if you go to Kroger or a Kroger owned store, why not make your money go 4% further to help others?

When G.O. first set this program up over a year ago it was intended to be a fundraising tool within G.O. Ministries’ network of influence, meaning the churches, short-term team members and friends of the organization that were familiar with our work. Our ability to distribute these cards free of charge was due to the RELATIONSHIP we already had with the people inside our network of influence. Until recently, the only people coming to our site (or our staff’s blogs) to fill out the web form were people who were invited to do so.

We could distribute the free cards to these people with out concern and in good faith because they were people the organization had a relationship with and clear expectation of. We could give the $5 away because it would be paid back the first time the recipient put $125 on the card and they could be trusted to do so.

Apparently, recently someone came across this program and promoted it on a free coupon site on the World Wide Web Saturday morning, March 20th. The “free money” offer spread like wild fire. Today, if you google “G.O. Ministries Kroger” you will find at least 30 to 40 different websites highlighting the “offer” which has generated over 2000 requests over the course of 2 days. Imagine our surprise to discover this development first thing Monday morning upon returning to the office!

As you can imagine, there is no way we can have the same trust with the 2000 requests (and growing) that have come to us from outside our own relational network. The cost of the last 2 days would be $10,000 for the cards and another $880 for the postage. We have no means of discriminating between those ready and willing to support the organization and those that are simply looking to cash in on a free $5 gift card. Obviously, we can not be certain of the former and can not afford the latter.

We apologize if this experience has frustrated you in any way. Our well intentioned promoter’s did not contact us prior to posting our information on their respective sites. We are grateful for the efforts put forth but sorry for the misunderstanding.
