oooh, good post. i was almost going to do this deal. thanks :claps:

How could Cingular not be an authorized seller? They sell Cingular / Verizon / etc. cell phone service / phones. I will call them 7am CST tomorrow. Sorry got to this so late.

The replies of customer service are mixed. Some people are reporting that Cingular verifies Amazon as being an authorized reseller, which I would assume they are...

However, some reps are saying that Amazon is not an authorized reseller. I took the chance, I figure that if the rebate comes back void, I have a heck of a fight to try to get it validated. Shouldn't be a problem, there will be a lot of people in the same boat on this one.

it aint worth a try! as far as im concerned they have no problem telling people to go jump in the lake they dont care if its 1,000 people thats 30,000 more for them!!!!!!!!

I think you mean Amazon, correct?

here is another question... is Best Buy Considered and "authorized seller"? cause i work there.. and with my discount.. i could proly get this for free...

Definitely not worth a try...It seems pretty clear that the retailer has to be cingular authorized, which I don't think amazon.com would be.

got some clarification...
Rebate says...
"from a participating Cingular Wireless Retail Store, DMDR, Cingular.com or
Authorized Agent"

Cingular wireless retail store is one that is owned my Cingular (duh)
DMDR not sure what this is if anyone knows please let me know
Cingular.com is.. well ummm Cingular.com....
Authorized Agent is like the kiosk's u see in the malls, or like a MetroCell or WirelessGiant, these places sell mainly cell phones and accessories...

Amazon.com and Best Buy are "National Retailers" and thus not avaible for this rebate

Just FYI, i heard this from a Manager at a company owned (owned by Cingular) store.

Hope this clears some things up

Amazon.com certainly is an authorized agent for cingular since it is directly selling certain cingular plans unlike Best Buy where the kiosks are not BB owned but are operated by another reseller while BB just does the money transaction (atleast in some states that I know of). If the rebate processing tells that amazon is not a valid store, I think this calls for FTC intervention

Amazon is not an authorized dealer

I called cingular thrice and each time their agents took some time to check if amazon.com was an authorized agent. I was told all 3 times that amazon.com is not an authorized agent and that the rebate wont be valid if bought from Amazon.com.
