office max: promotional dates for these products in the mfr's rebate form has passed

Office max is advertising for free, after rebates,

20234925 Belkin Classic Keyboard (mfr's rebate)
20052014 Belkin PCI NIC card (office max and mfr's rebate)

Is it just me or did anybody else notice the promotional dates for
these productes in the mfr's rebate form

have passed, but office max is still advertising these for free, after rebates.

Can someone please explain to me how these end up being free? I don't want to take any chances, and I hope no runs into trouble either.

Sorry if this is the wrong forum to post this.

Thanks.

Welcome to Spoofee, I helped your post find the proper home. Not too sure on this one. I guess it would not hurt to give OM a call and inquire about this. It makes no sense to me, they list the item rebate on the page as being valid but the form says it is not.

I guess we should all watch the rebate forms a lot more carefully.

Thanks

I just provided some info on this, don't feel like typing it again, so I'll just copy/paste if no one minds? ;)

Officemax has this Belkin deal all messed up. This is for example the second time they offered the belkin NIC for free after rebate this month when the mfr rebate had expired. If you ask officemax, they'll say the rebate form is incorrect, and the mfr rebate will be honored. However, most folks have had their belkin rebates rejected by rebateshq.com/parago for purchasing outside of the eligible offer dates. A phone call fixes that if you push but all the same, if officemax says the mfr rebate will go thru fine, they're lying.

It won't.

You can get it, if you've ordered it don't have a cow, if nothing you can call up OM and get them to credit you the $5, or talk to your local manager, call up rebateshq and get your submission validated, whatever.

If you're a NOOB and/or don't like having to fix rebates after the fact, I'd just avoid it, if you've already ordered it, you can get the rebate but again if you don't need/want it and an OM is nearby, just return it.

If you used a coupon, you will NOT lose the coupon, only a portion. So for example if you used a $30 off $150 coupon, the $10 keyboard or NIC represents 1/15th of $150 so you will only lose 1/15th of the $30 coupon, or $2, from your deal.

Keep in mind that sales tax and the postage on the rebate for the keyboard or NIC are $1 as well, so you lose $2 in coupon value but you save a buck there, so really it's a silly dollar you're out on the whole deal, no biggie.

Yep,

I emailed OF ([email protected] ) on the Belkin rebate issue here's there respone,

The Rebate information you have requested is as follows: According to
our corp. office this is the correct form to use.

I had a hunch they'd respond like that ... a bunch of BS run-a-round tactics.

On a similar note, I went to OF today for the,

GE 4-Function Universal Remote Control Item # 20670882.
Rebate: http://images.officemax.com/pdf/misc/GE4.pdf

The rebate's promotional date has expired, but they're still advertising, with free after rebates. Guess what the manager of the store said when I asked about the expired promotional date? "Corp. Office is the one who fax's us this, and they said it's okay, so it should be okay, you can still use the this rebate form, we'll honor it". I returned it anyways.

Yeah, I wanted to BS him too for BS-ing me.
