Wow, I'm not even a diabetic and I bought this. Seems like a valuable tool to monitor how your sugar-handling ability is doing. Or at least to have in the office/clinic for patients who may struggle with sugar-handling issues.
 
what's the difference between this and the one in the freebie section?
 
Meters like this are almost always free after rebate--or close to it. Just saw this one and all the other OneTouch Ultra models at Walgreens last night priced at the rebate price so you'd get back everything but the tax. They make their money on the test strips. I think OneTouch Ultras strips are about the most expensive at right around $1/each so it's quite steep to use these things. I know, I have both the Ultra 2 and the Ultra Smart that I use for my diabetic cats. The Ultra Smart is a lot nicer. I bought one of each last year to use for 2 different diabetic cats but ended up only using the Ultra Smart since its built-in log book is so much better than the Ultra 2. I use the one Ultra Smart to log records for both cats and don't use the Ultra 2 at all.
 
make sure it is 70 dollars rebate. most of the time the rebate is 30-40 dollars and to get the rest of the rebate you have to exchange your old meter. so be careful.
 
I should get this just in case I get diabetes :convinced:
 
keep in mind that the strips run about 1.00 a piece for this meter...so if you dont need the meter dont buy it. The meters these days come with no strips so at the least you will need to outlay $49 for 50 strips.
