Penny Stocks

I have never traded stocks before. Can anyone tell me something about Penny Stocks and how do I go about buying some?

I've never tried them either. It seems like you can make a lot of money, or lose a lot, very very quickly. With the way things go for me, it would be the latter. You hear a lot of hype about companies that are about to explode in the market. It seems to me like these type of stocks are affected by the direct investments, so it's kind of like a "refer a friend" type of deal. The more people dump into them, the better chance they will go up slightly, but then it's instantly sold and you get left in the dust.
But honestly that's just my view of how they work. I could be completely wrong. Either way, I haven't lost any money because of them using my own knowledge, so I guess i'm not (completely) stupid.
