I would love to be able to get a permit in CA, I have one in WA but its not valid in CA.

California is a tough one to crack. They won't honor any other state permits.

P.S. If you get pulled over, it is common courtesy to notify law enforcement that you have a permit and if you are carrying. (They will learn that you can carry when they run your license information, so it is better for them to know beforehand.)
