This is currently the hacker's favorite DVD player. DVD, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/+RW, CD, CD-R/RW, VCD, SVCD, MP3-CD, MPEG-4, Picture-CD and DivX 3.11/4.x/5.x, AVI. 4x video upsampling enhances all outputs.

Also plays JPEG, mpg, Xvid, PAL DVDs, PAL Divx, KVCD, SRT. It also has Progressive scan and 4x upsampling. You can just dump these files on a DVD and it will start playing them. No need to specially format the disk.

This dvd player rocks. I haven't done any "hacking" of it, exactly, but I have updated the DVD player's software once when Philips came out with an update on their website.

To update it, all I did was download the file from their website, burn it to a cd, put the cd in the DVD player, press a couple of keys (the instructions came with the file download) and then the DVD player was updated.

I'd highly recommend it - the DVD player looks about as cool as it could, and it plays DIVX files, which helps me out since I have about 200 Divx movies on CD-Rs.
 
yeah i've heard it was awesome and you can play basically any format in the world on it.

Do you notice any noise that comes out of the player when playing dvd's? I got a cheap one from sears a while back and every dvd I put in it would buzz. I finnaly took it back.
