Not working for me. I DL the game. It takes like 1 sec. I click on the file I just DL'd and it hangs (doesn't respond). Anyone else with ideas to get this to work?

I would say that their servers are being hit pretty hard right about now. Maybe try again, and it should work. It worked for me earlier.
 
alright, I'll give it a try tomorrow during the day when most people are at work and at school.
 
where do i register an account for this under? 7 day trial? free trial till jan 1st?...cause all of them ask for payment and stuff.

It is the "free trial till Jan. 1st 2006". You should not have to enter any credit card info unless you tried access to any of the three expansion packs.
 
o ok, mybad didnt read 2006 lol...it asked me for a form of payment, but i put down the other option...so i guess i wont be charged for that. thx a lot for the offer though!
 
We actually started playing this one a few months ago when it was just the standard 2 week trial and are enjoying it quite a bit. It's pretty different considering normally we play MMORPG's as opposed to something scifi.
My husband actually got the addon pack, I have yet to.
 
Everyone that is confused/can't download, you guys are using a BITTORRENT client right? The file you download is a .torrent file, which is used by the BITTORRENT client, such as Azureus, to START the download. It is a type of file swarming peer downloading application.

I followed the instructions and I'm downloading with bitorrent. WHich is a bit of an oxymoronic name- it would be more appropritately named "bitslug". On my 3xT1 connection I'm getting a whopping 9.5KBPS out of them. SO go ahead and use dial-up - THEY are the bottleneck.

Anyhow- WHY is the UPLOAD speed and traffic higher than the download? Are people taking files off my machine instead of me grabbing this game? Is this thing like KAZAA?

bittorrent is kinda like kazaa...but in bit torrent you are dling from a bunch of users in a swarm...the file is not located on a central server or anything...its just seeded by other people. Your upload rate will always be higher if you use broadband and it will slow your internet down. A lot of people actually leech the files off the bit torrent network (like not seeding it after they finish dling). Also the only file being upload from your machine is the one you are dling...so bit torrent dleds bit-by-bit. I would recommend Azureus...it is a java bit torrent client in which you can cap your upload speed...i have mine capped at 5kbps...but I definitely seed everything, cause its good for everyone.
 
They are now offering 3 keys when you have an existing account, it comes as an e-mail, for a weeks free trial of all the addons. If you choose to stay and pay a monthly fee the addons are free. Since I pay the monthly fee anyhow it was a pretty good deal for me. Unfortunately my husband just bought his addons last week prior to this special coming out.
 
hey geniouses... you dont get any down speed because you are prolly behind a firewall... i just downloaded the file and i never went below 85K... and im on a dsl line that has a max of 90ish K per sec. Bittorrent works best when you foward ports to it through your firewall because most people are behind firewalls themselves so unless they connect to you youre not going to be able to download from them...
 
I have Cable and it took me 12 hours to dl the game. So I did it before I went to bed. Now I am Playing for over 1 year for FREEEEEE!!!! :claps:
