this didnt work for me, with the ps3 and 3 movies in the cart price sits at 569. if i can get this to work im going to order one definitely.

I'm not seeing where that offer is available with purchase of a PS3. (EDIT: the promotion does work, see my next post)

They are offering the 8 free discs with the purchase of a Toshiba player, however, as you see at the link here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/?tag=spoofee&docId=1000122571

Problem is that the Toshiba players are HD DVD players, not blu-ray players, and the offer says "HD DVDs" not blu-ray discs.

Ok, I just tried it and it works... I added the PS3, plus three Blu-Ray titles from that link, and a promotion was applied perfectly (although my final total price was $480.04)

I would say 1) make sure the three HD titles you added to your cart are Blu-Ray titles, and NOT HD-DVD titles. That page contains BOTH blu-ray and HD DVD, two separate things. and 2) Make sure the Blu Ray titles you added are sold by Amazon and not a 3rd party seller.

Then, finally, choose free super saver shipping during the checkout process. You should see the discount being applied.

Yes, looks fine - but you won't see the discount until you begin the checkout process. Don't worry - you don't have to confirm your order, just log in to your account (or create one if you don't have it) and you'll see the discounts during the checkout process.
 
yea also its more here because i have to pay tax since we have a warehouse.

Hardware. It's still fairly expensive to manufacture. Considering it plays Blu-Ray discs, the price is pretty amazing when the price of a stand alone Blu-Ray player is roughly the same.

The Wii, for example, uses much simpler hardware, and is for the most part designed for just one thing - playing games. This results in a considerably cheaper unit to manufacture.

That's too bad... I like ordering from Amazon becuase of the free shipping and I don't have to pay taxes here in NY. Taxes on cheaper items aren't so bad, but when you're buying something that's around $500 taxes can be like $30 or more. :doh:
 
Madden 08 on the PS3 is lame... this system is lame. My computer rocks this system's world.
